so is there any truth to the rumours this 8F, er 8P, 8? is going to be streamlined and named "Duchess of Darley Dale" ?

Maybe it will have LED lit number plates and Yellow / Black warning chevrons on the tender, bull horns on the front and reversing stainless steel backlit purple wheel trims ?

then it could become the "Chav F".. that would be history, especially if it had an amplifier echoing the exhaust at twice the sound level :)

Sorry bad day could resist !

Well, my mother was born in Stainforth, but claimed she was was Welsh, (apparently my Grandfather was from Bridgend and thought she might be a boy and just in case she was he thought it might be as well if they went to Yorkshire just before she was born in case she was any good at cricket!) and my father was from Liverpool with Scottish parents.

So, there's only one thing for it. Swindon and everything it stands for!

It would be interesting to see the 8F or indeed 6100 or a Jubilee in BR maroon like the LMR latterly applied to some pacifics. A very handsome livery that suited the Stanier lines well.

    Thanks. Looking very smart!

Lets hope it is maroon, and not "red" like the Scot!

Must pay my respects on my way up North shortly.

I think it would be 10D624 in Bulleid-esque numbering. Not sure how the yellow lining would work on a conventional boiler. Three horizontal line would look weird, especially since the boiler tapers quite strongly!

Although many people posting in favour of the unusual colour scheme have made comments about the many others who have posted complaints, in actual fact very few whinges have been posted and no vitriol at all, that I can find. That's very refreshing, really. At best, it's a brilliant piece of individualism. At worst it's seen as misguided eccentricity. It's certainly got everyone talking about it!

It is an 8F back from the dead, and that is the main thing. Hopefully as time progresses and the Derbyshire climate does its worst it will be repainted, and that is an opportunity to reconsider the livery.
Just so long as they dont start to claim it as "authentic" after the passage of time like the Bressingham chap did with 46100, simply on the basis that the Scot had carried the wrong livery for longer than it carried the correct livery, ie BR brunswick green.

I think the 8F will look rather nice, and wear the maroon rather well, better I suggest than SR malachite green!

    Regards

One thing that is for sure is that I shall not be pointing any camera at it until it is in proper colours.

I always say that an owner can do whatever they wish with their property -but it doesn't mean that I have to approve.

I think it looks rather good in this livery. =D> It's nice to have a change from all the "Black Stuff".

It will be interesting to see if those who boycott the Paignton and Dartmouth Railway (on the grounds of inappropriate locomotive lining and liveries) now do the same for Peak Rail!

    It's just paint people.

Mrs S strongly approves - hates boring black - but she would also like it to have a name too !

Will Peak Rail notice the difference in their revenue figures?
