Is that recent for the coast?, as Galatea worked the CCE in 2015 & 2017 on tours I stewarded on.

Leander has also, on last year's GB. I remember it being mentioned on here that they have been modified in some way.

I think you will find your reference to Jubilees is incorrect as both ‘Galatea’ northbound with the ‘Great Britain’ and ‘Leander’ southbound have both been round the Cumbrian Coast route

I think with 45699 it involved the front steps.

I wonder if the reversal might be at Carmarthen, not Llanelli?

Or even Port Talbot where there are loops to where the train can stabled until a platform becomes free in Swansea.

Anybody got any info on what the GB locos are likely to be? I guess a lot of it depends on if they can use the Mk1s or not.

I could not resist adding this last year when booking the tour.
Looks like not all the tour people are going leaving this chance for others to go, though yes a bit of a trek for a day trip if you live outside Scotland.

Yes even with the Caledonian Sleeper you would still need two nights from London, unless you could trust a 5 minute connection:eek: from a railtour "approximate timing"

That's a proper man-of-steel move! I assume the timetable has changed up there, as the only path used to be about 6am from Inverness.

Oh, those good days are long gone! We've had paths ranging between 0800-1100 in the last few runs with steam to Kyle sadly.

So this isn't on anymore? Shame!

You know you're in the right place when you get lost looking for one spot, only to find another and the only other car there belongs to Joan and Bob!

Used the avoiding line outward and return. Was due to go via Cockett on the return but due to signalling problem used the avoiding line instead.

Yeah, I remember chasing this, avoided Swansea itself.

Guessing that based on what has been out on the mainline recently that 3 black 5’s and Tangmere are the most likely. Black 5 can go anywhere!!!

Would make it one of the shortest cast lists for the GB. When I used to do it the cast was at least 7 or 8 different locos

Mind you in the current climate the punters will no doubt be pleased it's running
