I was going say I brought a copy and did rise my eye brows when it said 4079 and 4555 would be visiting....

 

Who knows?! They pulled lots of people in this year, they might again! Haha

 

Just had a look and found out 37263’s supposed to be in action the weekend I’m next down in Bewdley…
Lots of beer, chocolate and wine need to be bought to convince certain people I didn’t plan it like this.

19th-22nd September - Autumn Steam Gala
3rd-6th October - Autumn Diesel Bash

Nice that there's more a gap between Easter and the SSG.

Is the autumn steam gala jumping forward a week next year then? If the nymr don’t jump a week they will be on the same weekend.

 

3rd full weekend of the month for the SVR as normal.

 

The 1st of September is a Sunday next year so keeping the ASG as the third full weekend does make it appear a week later than this year.

The SVR ASG has been 'early' the last few years.

Take this year for example - Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th September.

In 2017, which has the same calendar as 2023, the ASG was Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th September. So the ASG is a week earlier this year than six years ago, that's a fact.

What I noticed years ago, it always used to be on the weekend that had the first Saturday after 19th September. 2008 was Friday 19th to Sunday 21st September, then in 2009 it shifted to Friday 25th to Sunday 27th September.

Good to see it return to its rightful place next year!

Really? The last NYMR gala I went to was in 2014 and was after the SVR gala.

 

I thought the NYMR & WSR galas used to clash over the first Saturday in October? And GCR was a week after these.

 

When I bought my SSG tickets I was given another ticket to be used later. Is that ticket for one return journey or is it a "day rover"?

NYMR used to be first weekend in October but for some reason it moved to last weekend in September, happened about 8 years ago at a guess.

 

Yes I got it wrong sorry I remember it was October then changed to September. I can’t remember when the svr gala got changed as it was always around the 24th sept then moved a week forward

 

As per above, the SVR gala is always the 3rd weekend of September, don't think I have missed one in the last 30 years and I don't remember this changing unlike the Spring gala which used to be in March. This can of course shift slightly earlier and later depending on how this weekend falls in the month. Also there has been variation between 3 & 4 day formats, which can give the impression of an earlier date if you are working off the Thursday, but it always covers the 3rd weekend of September.

 

Out of curiosity, since there is a lot of discussion about dates and potentially clashing with the NYMR. If they do clash, is there much impact, or are the lines sufficiently far apart that there is not much crossover? I can see that you wouldn't want to clash with, say, the GWSR, but the NYMR?
