If funds were available, I'm sure they'd be restored soon as both are very popular.
I for one would love to see 85 in steam.
But with the railway's own resources being limited it's important to concentrate on the core fleet, especially the Beyers.

I have come to the conclusion that Sir Drefalwyn looks much better in green, evern thought it had been suggested that she was to return to a full black livery.

    On the 45th!
I'd love to see an L&B loco painted black with red below the running plate and whitewall tyres, but I feel my enthusiasm might be taken as madness in Somerset and I would probably be run out of town!
Just because the loco was not built in the UK, it does not mean that it's prior history is unimportant. Now about painting Royal Scot yellow....

I was under the impression that it was going back to black as Amy Winehouse used to say. Now as for an L&BR loco all in black did you miss the photos of LYD while she was in black? I think there may be some mileage in having one in SR black for a while.

Another small 85 update, taken from The Earl newsletter today.

“Our former Sierra Leone Railways Hunslet 2-6-2T No.85 has now returned to the railway following its condition assessment conducted by our friends at the Vale of Rheidol Railway.

The engine has been placed on static display where it can be viewed by the public in the Welshpool Display Shed alongside new arrival 'Nutty', and stalwarts 'The Countess', 'Joan', 'Dougal' and 'Monarch'.”

Very nice to see that the non-service locos are now all visible rather than hidden away in the back of the shed.
