Telford Steam Railway - Latest news

Thanks very much for your kind comments @Sidmouth. 5619 is currently in the shed having work done in preparation for repairs. The intention is for her to return to steam as soon as we can, and she may see some use during the 2023 season at Telford. Our primary aim however is to have her ready to haul our Polar Express trains this November and December.

Hello all

We had another busy weekend with our “Royal Special” train running on Sunday and Monday. 37263 is now at SVR for their Spring Diesel Gala. I’m sure she will make a fine sight going up and down the valley

37263 was a credit to your railway, I enjoyed a splendid run behind it. Great noise and clearly it enjoyed 'being let off the leash'! Some cracking videos on YouTube too.

Here is our latest update from the railway. The exciting news is that the contractors have started work on installing the new drainage between Horsehay and Dawley station and the Barrow Crossing. This is the start of our plan to relay the track to Doseley happening right now!

Peak Rail have publicly said there is a buy-out option to the DMU hire next year so could be a permanent move?
