Many thanks for your excellent report, I really enjoyed reading it. I like your reference to 45731, there are quite a few other long lost Jubs with names which might have also been appropriate, e.g. 45675 Hardy or dare I say, 45727 Inflexible, by the sounds of it. Impressive work by the footplate crew all day as you say.

Received ticket for Saturday, loco is 35018 or 46115.

9 passenger coaches (so presumably 11 in total).

I think 35018 should have some form of cab stripe (broken yellow?) that means very limited use south of Preston and York

Out behind the late running TPE.

WCRC really need to do something about shielding carriage PA from interference.
Both tours I've been on this year there has been a constant loud annoying whine in my coach, presumably from the overhead lines.
Prolonged exposure can't be healthy for the staff!

It looks as though today's CME may have been a trip of two halves. Pleased to see the decent run to Carlisle. Around 67 minutes is pretty reasonable and, as always, it hinges on how good the climb of Shap turns out - 37/38 min is none too shabby.

Coming south seems to have been a different challenge. I guess that we tend to forget that by the time you get to Carlisle the fire should be just right but then you are pottering around for about 90 minutes while everything dies back yet you have to be on the mark from the start when you head south.

Not easy but hopefully everyone enjoyed the pure steam experience.

With a fortunate break in the weather SRMN class No. 35018 speeds today's 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' through Benson Hall on the climb to Grayrigg with David Blair driving, Chris Holmes firing and Steve Adams Guard working north and south

Expecting a crack of thunder at any minute No. 35018 'British India Line' works the return 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' off Crosby Garrett viaduct and on to Preston
