On train staff only, the RA indicator even dispatches the train as far as I am aware.

I think there’s a bit of sarcasm in the previous post.

I think we can be certain that if any money was to be made from these stations then they would be open.

It depends on how it's done - in principle it's a good idea, but there are too many rural roads where there's been no thought given to visibility.

Often, the opposite. Visibility is being deliberately obscured in many places to slow approach speeds down.

That also happens, but the examples I had in mind are where untamed foliage leaves drivers on a minor road near blind as to the traffic on the major road.

I respect the fact that the DSR is a real railway, and not people playing trains. It serves a transport function, providing the customer with what he wants (admittedly at a price, but there is nothing wrong with makinghonest money!), and I found the staff perfectly polite and customer focussed.

As an aside, I’ve been pondering this all day - surely it has to be something like an 0-1/1-0? I’m not sure Whyte notation can cope with independent wheels opposite each other, and it’s totally routine for those two wheels to be running in opposing directions….

Passenger carrying paddle steamers in the UK almost always had a single engine and could not run the paddles independently.

Farringford & Cleddau Queen were two notable exceptions but both were ferries operating in smooth waters

Watching the Admiralty Director class tugs & the WFD Motor Paddlers which were diesel electric with independent paddles manoeuvring was quite something

Quick question, we’re staying in Goodrington for next couple of weeks and hoping to film Sir Nigel Gresley the next two Saturdays, does the move to the turntable and then Paignton and back to Kingswear run to a set timetable?

I can state for a fact, as I was firing it on the day in question, that 7827 has in fact run in BR Green at Paignton before during early 1986 when its then Great Western lined green livery was adapted by TV crews into BR Green for filming of either Poirot or Miss Marple (can't recall which one). It only ran like this for the two morning trips. It was a fairly convincing make-over too, but a lot of work for only a few short shots in the programme. Going to be great to see in finally return in its proper green livery though. A great locomotive.
