A news article from rail advent today seems to suggest that trialing bio coal on 2MT 78022 has been a success and managed to still steam properly up from Keighley with 5 coaches on the 14th of February, a glimmer of hope bio coal may work on the 4ft 8in loco,s besides the narrow gauge loco,s at the Bure valley line.

Given the durations of periods of hard working and the opportunities to replenish fuel i can see that Bio coal could work for many heritage lines.
Main line i think we are still a way off...

60009 was stabled briefly at Haworth some years ago but I don't think she worked any trains.

Lovely day on the KWVR today, the first visit in 22 years. A beautiful branch line. The wreath was to mark the passing of Mr Perks [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

A family trip to the KWVR. It is a fantastic railway. On Saturday we enjoyed a trip behind a locomotive that is 136 years old, in the venerable 'Gentlemen's carriage' and the splendid L and Y Club Car. This was in addition to the free tour around Oakworth station and goods shed. There was a brass band on the platform at Keighley adding to the atmosphere (including a member who was in the Railway Children film), and of course the museums at Ingrow West.

Thanks to all of you who make the line a success. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    See
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-67478048

A heritage railway has been named as one of five West Yorkshire projects to receive levelling up funding from government.

The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway would become a "major transport hub and commuter route," as a result of the cash, Bradford Council said.

Schemes in Wakefield, Huddersfield and Holbeck in Leeds will also be funded.

Bradford Council leader Susan Hinchliffe said the money would "create more economic opportunities".

Under the plans, signalling will be upgraded along the five-mile railway line, which links with national mainline rail services at Keighley, to enable more trains to run and the diesel fleet will be revamped.

In total the council has been awarded nearly £20m to spend on the railway and to fund a robotics and engineering research institute in Keighley town centre.”

I wonder what the KWVR views are on this proposal…

I’m concerned about the impact this may have on the heritage services but we’ll see. Keighley Centre really does need some TLC though.

From what I’ve seen elsewhere the KWVR’s yet to make an official announcement, until we hear that, shall we just not get too excited just yet?

Surprised this wasn't a bung to a Tory run council. Though without a real plan or owt, they may as well set the money on fire. Getting flashbacks to the various ELR proposals that have died when exposed to a modicum of thought.

Keighley does have a Platform available for 'Seperate ' services , how you would manage ticketing at the other stations ? could be tricky....

Do I remember rightly that back in the 80's there was a suggestion that the KWVR could extend to a platform by the Supermarket?
Is this a revival of that scheme?

It appears that MSC 31 is being dismantled for overhaul. I’m absolutely delighted, but also really surprised as I would have thought it was a bit small for their needs. Assuming they have a particular purpose in mind, anyone know?

I have to confess I was expecting the Jinty to go in next…

MSC 31 has recently changed ownership (one of the volunteers at Haworth) and the new owner wishes to overhaul it :)

With 90733 and 5775 undergoing overhaul, I can't see the Jinty entering the works soon :(
