Looks like it. The badge on the tank, front forks and the exhaust all point to it being one of HRD's finest.

My shot from Ally Pally this morning can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sfmU3OtWsk

This was taken from my new camera so its mainly acting as a test to see what the quality is like. Filming isn't perfect but I'm happy with the result.

Yes it is, looks like a Shadow, 1000cc 'V' twin. It was on 1952 model similar to this one, that I first passed 100mph. Note drum brakes and skinny tyres.
The car is an XJ Jaguar probably a 120, but not certain on that.

Quite a lot of the A1 is now A1(M),so quite a lot quicker than the 1950s.

Whatever the result, I think only the bike will be the real comparison, as both it and Tornado pretty much have the same conditions as of old, whereas the Jag would not have had near as much traffic back in the day. Be interesting to their take on it.

Unless they have to use stretches of the old A1. That would take them through a few towns and slow them down.

IF they are supposed to be using the 'old' routes to the North, surely this is a bit off as they cannot use the original ECML at Selby... :-k :-#

for the first few miles out of london the A1 has a 50 limit and a roundabout every mile (and a few sections of average speed cameras). Beyond newcastle it's also single carriageway, which means 50 limit.

to answer a post about 4 pages back, tornado was the first mainline passenger locomotive since the class 91 HST power cars (which were built as standalone units, hence the cab at both ends)

At the moment single carriageways unless signed are 60mph.
