Great report capturing the excitement and events of the day as well as your usual excellent detail. Good to have a chat during some of the platform breaks.

For a Jublilee to take nine coaches over the Devon Banks is an excellent effort, especially given the weather conditions last Sunday; note the wind blowing the trees about in the videos. The time of 81 min 42 sec from Tiverton loops to Plymouth is actually the fastest I have recorded, admittedly not against a great deal of competition.

As a further comparison I’ve added speeds from Bahamas’ first nine coach encounter with the banks in August 2021 (after the slash)
    Whiteball Tunnel- 33, 39./ 35½
    Newton Abbot - 61, 59/ 59
    Dainton Tunnel - 22, 27/ 26½
    Totnes - ?,40/ signal stop
    Tigley - 18, 17/ 10½
    Hemerdon - 6.5, 13/ 9
    Totnes - 52, 52/ 59
    Dainton Tunnel - 17, 25/ 30½
    Whiteball - 52, 51/ 55

Great report. Excellent work by 45699. Hemerden can be a killer. I once had a run with a Western on 15 in similar condition when it almost slipped to a stand and no steam to rescue it!

I seem to have been "busy" this week and have only now had the chance to re-read your excellent report. I am totally unfamiliar with the railways in the SW but with your usual detail (and comparisons) I got a feel for SL's performance on the day. I must agree, on board or trackside, Galatea (et al) is the noisiest of the three Jubilees.

As a former professional electrical engineer I can only wonder how someone has come up with an algorithm that predicts vehicle range from current battery charge level (in itself not the easiest thing to measure). Internal combustion powered vehicles are not without problems when attempting a similar feat. Before yesterday's "jolly" to Gargrave my VW predicted a range of 275 miles, after 32 miles of light-footed driving, the range was still 275. The 32 miles home, driving harder, lights on, wipers on and aircon on reduced this to 240. Overall it has proved to be reliable although I don't push it to the limit. Weather permitting I may see you whizz past on tomorrow's returning CME.

Personally I don't trust the algorithms David but what else have we got to go on? Around town the range is fine but unfortunately when we go anywhere its always on dual carriageways and motorways when at 70 mph we don't get an average usage of even 3 miles/kwh; and the Corsa only has 48.6kwh usable. The petrol version is very freaky with its predictor. Often driven 30/40 miles return to Abergavenny train chasing and the range remains the same. Pinch of salt time all of them. We live on a quite steep hill and the range drops rather more than the 1/2 mile. The predictor then seems to use this to recalculate the range. Down on the level it usually goes up. Such fun.

After many years of cars with range prediction I’ve come to the conclusion that they take a very short term sample of usage. So if you potter though town for a while it will assume that is the future and slash the range. If you then cruise the motorway the same applies and the range soars accordingly. You get used to it.

    We’ve just acquired a hybrid, now that’s interesting …..

Wow! If it’s performances on gradients on the HML in the past are anything to go by you’re in for a treat.

Final two for today, Cockwood Harbour and Tiverton Parkway. Nothing spectacular but a nice end to the day.
