I think I saw you at Kingscote on the 3PM ex-SP, but you nipped on to the track before I got the chance to say hello and had to dash when the train got to SP. I was quite surprised I was able to get a seat, although I gather the 11AM was packed out.

Thanks for posting about the special working this evening. Saw it at Holywell. Lighting was fantastic.

34059 looks really superb. Well done all who have been involved in this long project. No doubt it will become a firm favourite.

One final comment - someone posted something a while back mentioning the "puny gradients" on the Bluebell (or something similar). It may not have 3 miles of continuous 1 in 49 or even 1in 60, but may I recommend at least doing the Horsted Keynes-Kingscote section behind 34059. With 6 on this afternoon, she was certainly making quite a bit of noise on the last section of the climb up to Sharpthorne Tunnel.

    Thanks Martin.

Its at the top of freshfield bank, just approaching Broken Bridge. The shot from the embankment was a bit iffy with shadows. Was fairly "high risk" as they can shut off, luckily the crew saw us and kept steam on.

Lovely photos everyone, and congrats to the guys in the loco department that have worked so hard for so long for this. The achievement has been worth the years of work. Not many loco left in the Bluebell fleet that haven't steamed in preservation, only 178, 80100 and 78059/84030 of the mainline locomotives, and Stamford the forgotten (and off site) industrial.

Well 1178 is supposedly not far off being completed so that would leave 80100, 32424 Beachy Head and 78059/84030.

A shot from the usual position of the embankment.

Like Matt says, it can be high risk. It's just at the bottom of a dip after the summit, and sometimes the locos are coasting, then opening up again shortly after the "bridge".

Got a Footplate ride yesterday! And thoroughly good it was too! Got some pictures although can't upload the days photos due to having to pay for more uploads on fotopic. So for now I will probably upload to PhotoBucket!! I briefly met a Nat-Pres member - I think he mentioned about being on the 3pm last service train on here!! But it was brief as I did a little bit of firing on her and I was hungry! :)

    Aha!

You must have been the gentleman I briefly met at the end of Sheffield Park platform whilst talking to someone out of the 1st window of the train (I was in uniform playing guards). Hope you had a good footplate ride!
