We were privileged to visit Peterborough PSB in its final hours after over 50 years of operation, before control of the area passes to York ROC. Go behind the scenes in the next issue of Railway Herald, out on Wednesday 30th August.

Peterborough controlled from somewhere over 100 miles away. That's quite something but will be a salutary moment on the first time that an out-of-the-ordinary loco movement is needed.

I still remember when Didcot took over Bristol Temple Meads and the irritated tone of the person talking on the phone to Control to explain exactly what had to be done to extricate the steam charter stock from the through road at BTM. :)

I visited the PSB the other week with members of the Signalling Record Society and the Great Northern Railway Society. I was told the sixty lever ex-GN mechanical box at Eastfield will remain, as will the box at Helpston due to the nature of the level crossing.

If I'm right, the entire route from Kings Cross to York will fall under the York ROC. Peterborough itself covered Sandy to Stoke Tunnel and had CCTV of several crossings up to Holme Lode.
