Great fun this morning with double-headed 9Fs up the bank to Goathland, a rapid ascent! https://x.com/heritagelocum/status/1705608035291337153?s=46&t=dzzjup_kADlMH6rSzm2GTA

It seems unlikely that they would have run out of water (unless they didn’t take water at Grosmont before setting off). Maybe both injectors had failed?

Is the use of a milk tanker in a freight train something that actually occurred?

It was left in as siding a Levisham overnight , and when we passed earlier this afternoon it looked like it was in steam, with a black five positioned in front of it, presumably taking it to Pickering on one of the freight workings.

The webcams are a great feature for those who can't attend - 92214 instead of 92134 on the 17:10 delayed from Grosmont. Probably to be at Pickering in preparation for returning to GCR

Probably took all night to fill it with a hosepipe at Levisham, if it really was out of water! How could it be, though, don't standard tanks have water gauges/level indicators for their tanks?

I'm a bit surprised that it would be allowed out (or accepted by the crew) without them working (assuming it has them!)

There is only one tank water level indicator. It is located on the rear of the side tank on the fireman's side. The water level in the side tanks and bunker is balanced out.
