There was an interesting article in the latest S&D telegraph about some parts recently being manufactured with some photos as well.

Aye. The manufacturing of components for the lubrication system.

Most notably, there was also the suggestion that the rolling chassis might be moved to Midsomer Norton.

Ok so I went to the S&DRHT AGM last Saturday and there was some fairly positive news about 92207.

A number of skilled machinists have come forward and right now are manufacturing parts in their own workshops - sort of like a cottage industry. So work on the loco is actually going on most days.

80% of the parts of the loco are in existence in storage.

The trust is still looking for anyone who might have mechanical engineering / machining skills or is simply interested in working on the loco - contact the trust directly.

The trust acknowledges that this is a long term project but it has generated a lot of interest around the country and in doing so has helped publicity for Midsomer Norton overall, despite the loco rolling chassis not being located at the railway itself.

Please note - I am not a trustee but I am very interested in this project.

Although we are all in cash strapped times donations are welcome big and small, if anyone can spare anything.

Yes, I was impressed with the recent article about 92207 in the S&D Telegraph and I am pleased to be able to donate to this project.

Things are moving forward with 92207.

The loco will be staying put at it's present undercover accommodation in Poole. The owners have secured a new medium term lease.

The project team have acquired and had overhauled the correct lubricator and a 5 day working party was recently held to fit the associated pipework.

More working parties are planned and the focus will move on to the brakes in the near future.

If anyone feels able to make a donation towards the restoration of 92207 then you can follow this link:

BR 9F 92207 Morning Star - ways to support this project (sdjr.co.uk)

The project is being run by people who have a track record in loco restoration and any donation received will be used wisely to progress the loco forward.

As mentioned in a previous post, the chassis is the main focus. The lubrication system followed by the brakes are the current work in progress.

Any donations towards the ongoing restoration would be most welcome.

    Stone cold sober I opine.

    Cheerful, logical extrapolation.

I declared the future was solar panels and immersion heated fireless locomotives.
And, from the immediate reaction, I well recall the impression made.

These are historic locomotives, not lab rats. Sensible, descreet modifications to make them suitable to work in the modern world are fine, but turning them into something else completely is a step too far.

    Latest on 92207

Regular working parties continue activity on the chassis.

The steam brake cylinders have been refurbished and refitted. Current work in progress is the manufacture of new pins and bushes for the brake gear.

The next project is a replacement brake hanger cross shaft to replace one that went missing at Barry. In a perfect world, the project team would like to acquire the original ( if it's still around gathering dust somewhere), if anyone does know what happened to it get in touch!

Failing that a new one will be manufactured.

If anyone would like to donate to the project, follow the link below
