And don't forget they're fitting this new fangled train control system which is taking longer than anticipated.

Thought all the bottom end work on loco and tender were finished on that?
Rest to be done when boiler was fitted?

Electrical systems reported as nearly complete 30/09. The refitting of the boiler might hinder the progress of the completion of fitting this system which in itself is a significant undertaking. It is a first and a complicated one at that.

Unsubscribing from Amazon Prime? Getting a truthful answer out of Boris Johnson? Retrieving your car from Luton Airport car park?

Lots of things I guess …

    Please don't mention Luton Airport.

The recent fire was the best thing that could happen to it. It was regrettable that it was so small.

And having cost to date twice as much as the loco cost to build, a very expensive system.

Well I'm showing my age...the last time I passed through Luton airport was in Freddy Laker's days...it seems it hasn't changed...

Refitting the boiler, completing the electrical work, testing, not to mention all the remaining mechanical work once the boiler is back on.
    Patience.

Too true but it's interesting how it's actually not been missed as much as say, when the Duchess was out of action for a while. Ask someone else and it will be a completely different answer, of course.

Don’t knock Luton Airport, apart from the ridiculous car parking charges. It’s only half an hour from me and in my experience is the most efficient of the London airports. Luckily I came back on 30th September and had my son to drive us to and from.

Quite why they initially expected the overhaul to take around 6 months to complete, I don't know. It's been 21 months now and still it's weeks away from testing. Installing ETCS was never going to be a five minute job, and especially not on a different form to traction to everything else that it's been installed on so far.
