Yes one of the WCRC drivers told me it is 40 mph, although apparently due to the rising gradient from a standing start unlikely to reach that before braking for Worgret, but OK in the up direction.

It also mentions Amazon Smile which I believe ceased in the UK in February so not sure how up to date that page is.
I fail to see the worth of running to Bournemouth even if it was an operational option. It would still take as long or longer than the bus does and does not serve the Bournemouth hotels well, at considerably higher ticket cost, and takes money from the SWR (i.e. government) fare box. I assume an OAO licence would be needed as well.

Indeed, the Wareham to Worgret section certainly seemed a fair bit faster than 25mph when I visited in August.

I see 488 is now to be restored, but as the press release says 30583 rather than 488 most probably in BR black rather than LSWR green (to keep photographers happy)?.
I see the public SR webpage with the detail of the 563 footplate visits this weekend has been updated. Hopefully (plus half term bookings) boosted by the BBC news item.

Guess as the SR Trust website is primarily aimed at enthusiasts who probably know from other sources what's happening, it is not so critical to update aims and projects?

At this stage I don't think I'd read anything into it - says 30583 because that is how it is currently presented. I made sure that in everything I wrote in the current issue of Bluebell Times, I used "488" ;)

Honestly, at this stage, don't assume that a press release represents formal livery policy ...

Thanks guess 488/30583 will have a thread in the Steam Traction forum to discuss more?

After taking a trip on the railway I did notice how much less wagons there are these days. Someone on here mentioned I believe started taking them away?? Any ideas why?
If it wasnt for the 6/7 cars for the TC set most of the sidings would seem to be empty

Southern Catering Project Group owned most heritage wagons and have been gradually selling them off. A few vans went to Northamptonshire Ironstone line a few weeks back.

    Thanks looking up found
    http://scpg.org.uk/home.html
It says "This decision was taken as the facility for maintenance and restoration of wagons was no longer available on the Swanage Railway."?
The stock list says *sold" (one van scrapped), but the srstock.co.uk stock list says some vans are still in Swanage, so the website needs updating?
Guess the SR still has enough goods wagons to run an occasional goods train?
Mentioned earlier, isn't one siding reserved for visiting rail tours?.

When the Swanage 4TC group brought a 4TC from LU there was no space, so the 4TC had to go elsewhere, where it was damaged.
Good to see progress on it and the brake carriage presumably has been moved to sidings away from the old good shed?
The 4TC group has been buying more 4TC related carriages, hopefully the restored blue grey "3TC", to represent the 1970s era at diesel galas, will do a test run with a 33 soon?

Today Nathan has announced the Diesel Gala and Beer festival for 10th to 13th May 2024 on Facebook. Perhaps a new thread for this and what will attend, will the Swanage blue grey 3TC/4TC be ready after several years of restoration?.

T3 swanage trips during half term are being REDUCED in price. From a staggering £30 to £22.50.

    Much more realistic price.
(I noticed the first Saturday most were only 2 coaches with passengers)

Dad and I will be hoping to attend both but I suspect we'll be in a minority there! I don't see this being a particularly costly clash for either event, very different target markets overall.
