Great to see the rarer bits of track are being done as planned. Looking forward to it.

Ah..... but are you happy that one side of the triangle up to Sheerness will be diesel hauled? (That is in jest.:)). I am also looking forward to it. A nice short day out.

Had a curious message from the RTC today to say that they are unable to release tickets for Saturday because Network Rail has not yet confirmed times. Presumably by that they mean that NR hasn't confirmed with WCRC.

We know that RTT is indicative but you do wonder what there is about the timings that have been up for a while now that might be provisional.

Indeed, though there's always potential for a last minute modification.

Even though the R T T times are almost the same as approximate times curious

Sheerness will be new track for me so today I took a virtual cab ride along the branch to see what I would see, so to speak. I discovered that it is single line from Swale to Sheerness with a passing loop at Queenborough. Unlike the long terminus at Sheerness, the platform and loop at Queenborough looks to be an eight car stop. On the way back we are supposed to sit in the loop at Queenborough to let 2D37 from Sittingbourne pass. That makes sense as the rules are that charters give way to service trains on the network.

However, Bahamas + 9/10 + diesel = 11/12 and I do wonder whether the charter will fit. OK - it's a problem easily solved by the service train arriving and waiting for the charter to pass straight through but SER needs to be asked about that.

Not a totally original thought, I'll admit, but this is a discussion forum and that kind of detail is arguably worth sharing and discussing. After all we all know that train length matters in the SE especially in Kent and Sussex.

Al, I hope it all goes well and you enjoy your new track. As you cross the Swale and before you head under the main road, to the right of the train's direction of travel you will glimpse the edge of the massive island nature reserve where a gricing owl can often be seen - sometimes gricing his fellow creatures or gricing the sound of the Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway when the wind is in the right direction. And don't forget you will pass over the combined road and rail lifting bridge as you cross over the Swale - that is the tidal area of sea that earns Sheppey its island status. Photo of 70013 crossing the bridge from island to mainland in 2011 attached - I hope at a size that is not too big!. The high bridge carries the A249 main road onto Sheppey.

Maybe being retimed for the return with the likely riots in London on Saturday?

I think the times have been on RTT for several days now, so the note from RTC is odd. I can't imagine any changes being made because of political events in London - no matter where/when the train travels it needs to come back to the same place!

I see the full timings (showing all the stations) are now shown on RTT, looking the same as the outline timings from before.

Not necessarily, even if this one does. My first ever railtour started from St Pancras and finished at Kings Cross. UKRT's Newhaven Nonsense in August this year started from Victoria and finished at Waterloo, and there have been other combinations.

Quite. Mine was King's Cross to Euston, via Dundee.

I remain interested in exactly how we pass the service train at Queenborough though.

I did a tour with Kingfisher that started at Victoria and ended at Kenny O.
DCE for many years was a Victoria start, Waterloo finish with no Staines stop on the way back as it went up the main from Woking.
