Stopped near Little Mill, told a few minutes ago by Train Steward that there is a broken down freight train at or near Hereford.

You could be there a little while. Lots of TFW/WMR/GWR services cancelled and no immediate sign of it clearing. Stuff seems to be getting through just fairly late.

Bit weird on RTT. Marches Service Trains less than 30 mins down; Charter 60 down. Has it been in Panteg loop? 1W55 was behind it at Cwmbran; ahead of it at Abergavenny.

'was sounding good climbing out of Salop, and for a change the sun was shining for me as well.
The 51 minute late arrival was magically turned into a 28 minute late departure by scooting straight through and missing the two pathing stops.

On the whole I enjoyed the trip from Bristol to Chester, the outward run was hampered by a freight train failure near Hereford which knocked 10 minutes off the time in Chester. The stop over was brief, had just over 2 hours to have lunch, and a cursory view of the Cathedral and Christmas Market. The run back was hampered by late running service and freight trains which contributed to a delayed arrival at Bristol. My wife reminded me that we had travelled to Shrewsbury eight years ago and on balance she had had a more relaxing afternoon.

There are some impressive photos and videos posted from the run along the Marches Line, it must have been a challenge to wait in the cold up to 1 hour longer for the train to pass by.
