    ETS?

Oh, thats the Northern name for ETH. It took the rest of BR a while to cactch up with the Southern Region.

Anyway, don't bother trying to ETH the Green Train, that RMB ex Mid- Hants is steam heat only.

What makes you think the RMB will stay with the set long term ? WCRC has a large pool of stock and make change vehicles from set to set to suit requirements.

    What?

Er, its painted green and being steam heat only and vac brake only it may as well stay with the Green train. Almost all Green train jobs are steam hauled (steam heat ok), and only Flying Scotsman can't do vacuum. And FS is in bits anyway.

What i mean is it's quite possible WCRC have a similar vehicle in their fleet that's both dual brake and dual heat and they could swap this into the set inplace of the RMB.

People need to stop thinking of the Green Train by itself, it's part of Carnforth's rather big coach fleet which they can mix and match as required.

34067 passed Mortlake on time with 37706 tagging along on the back. I was shooting into the sun with my camera and my tripod shock as it went past. Oh well, I'll get there some day!

She was going well yesterday near Hook laying a smoke screen over the countryside. We had hoped to be on this run but circumstances dictated otherwise. I hope there is another run down to Swanage with steam in the not too distant future. Anyway here she is near Hook:

Guessing that meant that the 37 hauled leg wasn't as quick as a BoB pacific (or an undesiro)... Some bailed at Woking to get to London quicker.

There was a problem with the 37, we lost about 15 minutes between Southampton and Basingstoke , lost a further 5, by Woking, and were half an hour late at London Victoria.

On the way to Swange, the 37 had to give us a shove up the bank, between Wareham and Furzebrook, after Tangmere kept slipping.

The 37 performed down to the usual standards of the class.

I think you will find the timings were no doubt timed for a 47 or a 57 NOT a 37. 37706 did a brilliant job in my opinion and went as a 37/7 should. Don't forget this is a freight 37 not a /4 so it was as you should expect, have the 7's been regeared as well as ballested? What surprises me is people not been happy about 37 haulage in 2009 #-o Cheers Andy and Jules for the window on the return vid soon!

Anyway, thanks to all for a brilliant trip 34067 was brilliant and it was great to go into Swanage from the mainline well done all! =D> Vid of that tomorrow or tuesday also.....

For those wondering what the difference of a 37/7 to a standard 37 are here you go: (or any other subclass for that matter...)

If you had seen it at Healey Mills 3 years ago you would have thought it was a different loco! It is a super piece of restoration by WCRC!
    ------------------------------------
    Class 37/7

The Class 37/7 is a sub-class of the Class 37, intended primarly for heavy freight.

Again, as part of the major refurbishment scheme of the Class 37 locomotives in the 1980s, another freight dedicated fleet of 44 Class 37s was created; the Class 37/7 subclass which was identical to the 37/5 subclass except for the addition of a ballast weight to give extra 'pulling power' when hauling heavy freight trains such as the metals trains in South Wales. Again, like the 37/5s, there were two batches completed; from phase 1 and phase 2 Class 37/0 locos. The batch numbered 37701 downwards were from phase 1 build locos and have the flush front ends and the batch numbered from 37899 upwards were rebuilds from phase 2 locos, having the central headcode box (plated over). A further complication was created; locos numbered 37796-37803 had a different type of electrical equipment fitted as part of a trial and differ from the other locos in the subclass internally.

    Cheers,
    Mark
