    You might be surprised by the top speed of a particular 9F, reached descending Hatton in the 1980's.

    Indeed, but I suspect a 9F would be limited to 50 mph based on wheel diameter - but derogation could be sought for 55 or 60. That hasn't prevented 48151 from having a very useful career though and I think a 9F would also prove very useful on the mainline, just based on haulage capability. The S&C, Welsh Marches or even Highland Mainline would all be useful secondary routes where a 9F could take a viable payload.
    I believe JH looked into certifying 92212 when he first acquired it, but the hurdles were too great.
