Surprisingly first one to post on this. Through Tilehurst 10.42 going well on relief. Approx 8-10 early. Think it was "Royal" 67 on rear.

Having seen Tangmere at Woking at 0920 on its way to Swanage, I managed to get over to WokingHAM to see Clan Line heading North on the VSOE looking superb as ever with EWS's Butcher Supreme hanging out of the cab looking very happy with his work and quite rightly so (slight feathering at the safety valves!!).
Very impressed with station staff who walked around telling everyone that a steam train was to pass shortly and the reaction from the passengers was great, with clapping and chearing - mind you, half of them were knocking back the cans of beer on the way to the Army v Navy rugby at Twickenham and so will probably not remember anything when they sober up

On time at Earley tonight going well & thanks to the driver for the whistle tonight & this morning there too. It made the video sound like I remember steam in the 60's

Saw her at South Stoke - clagging nicely - "Royal Sovereign" 67 006 was on the back

Not too many people around - I guess many in the south of England went to Swanage and those further north went after the Black 5's. Kudos to the retired BR driver I met on the bridge at South Stoke. He had travelled down from Manchester by train, leaving at 05:30, walked from Goring and Streatley station (25 mins) for a photo, and was going back to the station (gave him a lift so that saved some time) to travel to Rhyl by rail in order to see the Black 5's as well before returning home.

Went to Cholsey for the evening return working, but not got the shots off the camera yet

That looks like some type of microlight, I believe that ordinary light aircraft, Cessnas etc, are not allowed to fly so low.

I might have it on my video, but haven't got round to downloading it yet. It nearly got in my still shot as it wasn't that far above treetop level at South Stoke. Didn't have much time to take notice of it as it was so close to Clan Line and we'd only just breathed a sigh of relief that the 66 and freightliner in your video had cleared before the VSOE turned up

I'm not sure that anything is allowed to fly that low. A video from another angle shows it's about 10ft above Clan Line at one point.

I wonder what the crew on Clan Line thought of these antics!

That video really should be referred to the CAA. I think the minimum is supposed to be 500ft.
Stupid anyway, what if a gust of wind had caught it and thrown it into or infront of the train?

I can confirm the altitude should be a minimum of 500' away from built up areas, its either 2000' or 5000' over urban areas,I can't remember which,my grey cells are getting tired. Colin.

Check the aircraft shadow on the ground - it would seem to be to the right of the train, and certainly higher than 10 feet above it. But probably less than 500 feet.

If you compare the relative sizes of the microlight and Clan Line, there is no way that it was ever anything like 10 feet away. It was a lot nearer the camera and more like 150 feet up. Distances are very deceptive when it comes to height about the ground.
