I think top speed is more a factor for 37's than the subclass Mark, 80MPH as opposed to 95 for a Duff, it like expecting a Black 5 to stick to Duchess timings and loads.

This info came off wessex rail gen

47245 on 1Z98 08.12 Waterloo - Swanage, arrived OK but 33103 has failed, so Ecs
duty has been switched to 33111.

The empty carriages were dragged up just beyond Norden level crossing, outside the Corfe/Norden train staff limits, so that "normal" trains could put in a couple of trips before the whole lot was brought back into Swanage to load up for the return. Saturday we had 33103 in the siding at Corfe to head the ECS back (as 37 remained on the London end). Today we towed it all out of Swanage with 33111 which got detatched at Corfe on the return.

I'm no fan of Wessex Rail Gen, as many of you know.

The decison to use 33111 today was more to do with testing 33111 on a decent load, than the fact that 33103 has some interesting faults.
On Saturday, 33103 left Norden on time, and arrived in Swanage on time. Next bull poo from Wessex Rail Gen?????

hey folks, a fantastic trip out today.

I hope the Swanage folks and Past time are happy with themselves, and I hope Swanage becomes a more regular fixture for a day trip. A very warm welcome fromt eh Swanage staff as the train arrived.

Manston seems a superb 'flagship' for this season and Tangmere performed flawlessly, apart from the understandable difficulties in starting 11+ 47 out of Norden and after crossing the boundary. Parkstone bank was a competent run with no assistance, think it was topped in the high teens.

Bed now, work in the morning

    Ben

So the crew on 33103 on Saturday were wrong when they said it suffered a main generator flashover approaching Harmans Cross on the return from Motala?

I know they're well late - I've been preoccupied with other stuff since - but I got some cracking pics of the 2 May trip before and after Corfe. A couple of samples:

I've also got a short piece of video on YouTube (this isn't the greatest, I was mainly shooting stills):

It was a brilliant day, and the number of people - visitors, enthusiasts, volunteers, locals - in Swanage was amazing. A big well done to all concerned!
