I’m aware of hotels and airlines putting prices up but I’m rather surprised at pub chains putting their prices up, maybe it’s because I give chains like the ‘Slug and Lettuce’ a massive wide berth and like to support the independents?
Getting back on topic, I do feel that those at Swanage have maybe buggered up with their pricing regarding 563 this week?

Why? If something doesn't sell, reduce the price.

If only 25 people travel behind the T3 each paying £30, the income = £750. If, for example, 60 people travel at £22.50, the turnover increases to £1,350. <BJ>

Indeed it does make sense to reduce the price. However the need to do so does show that the original price was misjudged.

Not necessarily, you've got your £750 in the bank, therefore assuming that is what it takes to make the train viable, you flog the rest off cheap to make a profit, as your costs aren't scaleable. (eg costs of coal to pull the tare weight of the train isn't free, you need as many signalmen, engine staff, etc for an empty train as you do a full one).

I'm hoping they won't sink to budget airline levels of "fault on plane" when the numbera don't stack up...

We got our upgrade. The booking office clerk was unaware of the new arrangement but a quick call to management soon sorted it.

120 is prepped for a boiler lift. Just waiting paperwork to be sorted and something to look forward to in 2024.

I’m guessing this is possibly something to do with ‘the announcement’?

No 120 was nothing to do with that, that will be announced via the 563 Group.

There is already a 30120 thread which could be resurrected. However it possibly need renaming the 120 thread, given the intentions for the loco’s livery when it returns to service.

Only if you were (say) on LMS territory and an LNER loco turned up. Otherwise 2066 could be a Fairburn 2-6-4T or. K1.

    LMS 120 would be a class 3 2-6-2 tank

Reminds me of the story from LMS Control at Derby who were annoyed with the London Control and decided to get revenge by sending 60112 St Simon on a Derby - Somers Town freight. When London Office checked on the locomotive ID, Derby replied 112. Assuming this to be LMS-operated D112 nowt was send until Somers Town asked London what to do with 60112 as it was out of gauge ! After a few days consideration it was finally returned north on a service from Marylebone

or when Grange 6858 got sent up to Leeds via the GC, because control thought it was a class 37 and the D prefix had been missed off..

It's exactly a year now since the LSWR T3 first hauled it's first passenger carrying services on the weekend of 7th - 8th October, 2023.

During it's first year as minor adjustments have been made to the locomotive, it can now regularly haul five coach trains with relative ease.
Also as driving and firing techniques have been learned, this has also helped in the performance of the loco.

Well done to the Swanage Railway for giving us the opportunity of riding behind and experiencing such a superb locomotive. <BJ>

    One question..........

Clearly it would not have been an issue when it was built but the T3 coesnt have a coupling fitted at either end.

I assume it was built that way and never modified?

Was that how loco's were built at that period?
