Or you the planned engineering works page on National Rail for any TOC for the destination you want to travel to.

True as it maybe, these 3rd party retailers also give you more choice, if you so wish to avoid certain problems.
Friday is no problem, Sunday is going to be a pain.

Sorry more choice to do what?
Unless you tell Trainline a via point it shows exactly what a TOC website will show, unless you add a via point. So in this case an RRB in the middle of your journey. It may give you a split ticket option for some journeys but there are many split ticket sites that do not charge you for the service like Trainline does.

    Services generally.
    I.E. Not just one company.
It's a more neutral view rather than one company pushing their services.
Personally, we need more of this 'neutral view' rather than all these different companies ramming their services in your face all the time.

As someone who doesn’t drive, my first port of call on any journey is always National Rail Enquiries, for anything on the day RTT’s rather useful too. I really wouldn’t use a third party like Trainline.

A neutral view based on standard information feeds from rail operators, which charges booking fees that the train operators do not, and is know for placing customers at risk of criminal prosecution by inaccurately representing the type of ticket purchased. I'll keep buying from my train operator.

Well I personally never by mainline tickets online, it's fiddly enough getting them on the day.
Anyway, back to the GCR, what's the freight sets this year?
Also, is the post train going to run?

The TPO isn’t advertised as running, and its not featured at the winter gala for the past couple of years at least, so probably not.

Which split ticket sites don't charge a fee?

I thought the one one the website I am banned from ( Rail UK Forums) charged nothing or very little for their service. Not that I have used it being banned for disagreeing with a moderator because I would not travel until I had a Covid jab.

None of them...if you use them to find out where to split your ticket, then go back and complete your purchase of tickets via your preferred TOC ;)

I found it slightly amusing to read this on the winter gala page of the GCR website:-
    • Two amazing visiting locomotives (BR Standard 4 75069 and L&Y A Class No. 52322)
I happen to have a soft spot for both visiting engines - 75069 spent its working life on the Southern Region and it is highly likely that I would have seen it when I was a small child. I have been a 52322 fan ever since it visited the Spa Valley and of course, last year it was one of the guest engines at the Bluebell Branch Line weekend*. However, here are two machines which were seen as very much run-of-the-mill during their pre-preservation working lives and I doubt if anyone wold ever have used the epithet "amazing" to describe them. One of the good things about the preservation era is the greater appreciation of unsung workhorses which did their job competently but were never regarded in BR days (or earlier, in the case of 52322) as glamorous, let alone "amazing".

*I'm not just saying this because 52322's owner has posted on this thread. I really do like this engine - honest!

Does anyone know if the Friday will be a slightly reduced offering compared to the weekend? in terms of number of locos used etc
