That would be a rather interesting situation, if someone later, is told go put a fire in Freshwater, and gets the wrong one, :)

Which is why railwaymen use numbers, not names. :Saywhat:

Even that could be a problem at the IOWSR. There are two coaches numbered 4115.

Or if the aforementioned Terrier gets repainted into FYN or early SR livery with her first Island running number, after the E1 is restored...

Oh dear, that's one of the locos hidden in Ashey Quarry as the off shore strategic reserve .....

    Cheers, Neil.

Has the idea of acquiring a Beyer Peacock 2-4-0T from Australia in the Strategic Vision gone anywhere? I remember it as a proposal back in'09 but reading it back it was a bit If It Happens, It Happens.

I believe they have made a formal declaration of their interest to the Australians, but so far the authorities there haven’t been willing to let one go.

ISTR reading the Australians weren't willing to part with artefacts which is why a similar proposal for some of the RODs floundered.

That is my understanding too. I think that the traction engine boys have encountered similar issues as well in recent years.

If 4079 had stayed on a few more years wouldn’t there have been problems trying to repatriating it?

The IOWSR loco collection has really grown in fairly recent years. The strategic vision also mentioned potential disposal of non island locomotives were no longer required I wonder if that will ever happen?

I’d imagine Ajax to be at the top of the list, I can’t see it ever being overhauled again. No island pedigree, and by all accounts not the most suitable loco for passenger use.

Another gap to fill in the collection would be FYNR no.1. Do any Manning Wardles of the same type still exist?

I've read that before, but I think there is no urgency, at present it is inside, protected from the elements and you can go in the cab where the controls are labelled nicely. Perhaps one day but no hurry
