"Our friends at Colas Rail have kindly offered to send a visiting loco to our event (Class 37 requested but subject to availability).
The visiting loco from Colas Rail joins the line up alongside the already announced Class 69 from GB Railfreight, as well as our home fleet Class 33s."
There is also a video from 2023 showing a 400 with 2 50s making a noise!

The Swanage "3TC" has made a bit of progress so might be at the gala, not sure of the LU 4TC which is still being worked on at Eastleigh, but has safety bars on the windows, good for mainline use but maybe not needed on the Swanage line?

 

Apparently the LU 4TC is now registered for passenger carrying on the main line.
GBRf's 69 and the Swanage 33 (D6515) are bringing in the LU 4TC via the Branch Line Society rail tours:
The Jurassic Crompton on Thursday 9th May and the Return of the Jurassic Crompton on Sunday 12th.

Also there is the Western D1015 visiting and last night it was announced the class 24 From the ELR is also visiting,the line up is looking very good as it always is.

 

Correct. Courtesy of the East Lancs Railway and the East Lancs Type Two Group this visitor is D5054 “Phil Southern”.

No mention of the Swanage 3TC?
Also no trips to the Frome bridge, past Norden?

TBSK apparently still being worked on outside Goods Shed and not sure at what stage the team has reached.
Also unsure if the two DTSOs are in 'ready to go' status.
Suspect you might plan for the 3TC not to appear. If it does then that's a pleasant bonus.

Last few Swanning Around Magazines did mention the return of the 3TC set later this year. If I was Swanage I would have another smaller Diesel gala in september/October using the 33/3 TC as the Swanage to Corfe Shuttle with 2 other sets going to Nordon/or the River and having 3/4 extra guests, or mixed traffic and use their own 33, 1 steam then 2/3 visitors

And do your dreams include sponsoring yet another 2/3 visitors coming to Swanage?
The Railway is paying for seven visiting diesels for next month's Diesel Gala as well as three visiting Bulleid pacifics for Strictly Bulleid II in June.
This is going to be an expensive year and requires lots of enthusiasts to attend these specialist events along with any 'regular' visitors. I trust you will be joining the [hoped for] crowds at both these events.

 

The last official FB update from the Swanage 4TC group was in 2023, So presume the wiring and other work on the TBSK carriage has been more challenging than thought?.
Still time to get the 3TC together and tested before the gala, but tight.
At least the LU 4TC unit will be at the gala representing the class 438, and working push pull, as it would have occasionally on the Swanage branch in the 60s and early 70s.

 

On the webcam looks like there is movement of the "3TC" TBSK!

 

Also looks like 33111 is moving something in or out of the goods shed to me.

Gala is 2 weeks away the timetable has been published, last time I looked the brake has no seating, I guess reasonably quick to install, but not sure what others jobs may be needed & the other two coaches appear to have not have done much more than sit in the sidings for some time. Not sure if they are fully complete or not.
I will not be expecting to see it going past my lounge window during the gala.

 

Looks like SKP tender into the goods shed, presumably for painting.

I had a guided tour of said coach the other day. Its not just a matter of wiring and a generator unit.
The 4TC lads are putting in a shift.
These are MkI coaches with their inherent problems.
The amount of structural work the very small 4TC group has undertaken is to be applauded.

In the general Swanage railway discussion #10527 Gladiator has posted a photo of the 24 along side a weather beaten DTSO which looks like it needs attention.
Tomorrow about 3PM the LU 4TC with 69007 and 33012 should arrive from Waterloo to recreate what would have been been happening in the 1960s and 70s.
