Sadly clashes with other "interesting " events - ELR's Giants of Steam Gala (15-17 March); 5043 over Shap & S&C (16 March); night photography at Churnet on 17 March with 75014 !!; something has to give or domestic harmony will evaporate quicker than an ice cub in the desert.

 

You could easily do 75014 and Statfold.

 

The next three locos in operation have been announced. They are Sybil Mary, Howard and Jack Lane.

Hi Paul - is the big blue articulated loco no.9 in the shed steamable, bit of a beast!?

 

The final loco is Alastair, a Ruston & Hornsby loco.

It was at one time. It did its time. Not so much of a beast as designed for economy in the sugar fields (true compound). "Harrogate" and the Fowler "Saccharine" are probably the two most powerful of the fleet.

 

Usual good event, selection from the day, little less mobile still recovering from a hip job so not as much variation in the places.

 

Another really enjoyable visit, each year there is something new and improved. This year we had x2 11 year old girls in tow and they enjoyed themselves just as much as their forty something Dads, shows Statfold is really doing something right. Excellent quality facilities, good catering, something for families and a darn good show for enthusiasts: all for under £15pp - a lot others could learn from there!

 

And don't forget the service frequency - always some action to be noted thus keeping the kids occupied !
