Unforeseeable, or unforeseen? As a matter of planning policy, requiring a project through a sensitive area to be completed in one go doesn't surprise me in the least.

Are we starting at Barnstaple Junction with a replacement steel viaduct ? (or have I got the wrong bridge ?)

I'd be surprised. Leaving the viaduct aside, the road layout's just a tad different at the south end of the Long Bridge, and the trackbed well and truly built on from there to Pilton.

Now, if some of the Exmoor NG chat about borrowing from Swiss practice were to be applied, I can just about imagine on road running up North Walk and across the middle of the roundabouts on Pilton Causeway. I somehow don't see Devon County Council such plans the time of day, however, given how congested that end of the town can be.

As it stands I think we are going to need more than a miracle to get any further south than Snapper at present.

I likewise would like to have the confidence the old trustee's would want to work with the new ones, something they have sp far proved they are not willing to do

Those conditions were added before approval was given so why didn't the Trustee's pull the application, when knowing full well those conditions could not be met

As far as im aware it was two who refused to work with Anne and one who refused to work with Chris, the chairman is there to make the board work together, if he cannot do that then he should have resigned

I have seen one of those 'red line' drawings and to be honest a child of five could have spotted the mistake, the red boundary lines were below the line of the railway

Exactly, why would anybody think that a National Park Authority would risk having to deal with a half finished project within its boundaries, the Trust were apparently putting in the biggest planning application the Park had ever dealt with so why would they not want to require that all the land and finance was in place before the project was started

Ive seen that poll, why is there quite a bit of bias ?

I used to be confident in the practicalities of getting to Pilton, but looking more closely tonight brough home that I'd not realised until looking at maps this evening how Alexandra Road is built over the trackbed, and also at where it is crossed by St George's Road/Raleigh Meadow. I'm still not sure Snapper's a good terminal location - especially not without completely changing the character of the place.

Setting a poll is almost a science in its own right with many pitfalls. Any Faceache poll is interesting but doesn't reflect the wider membership as the sample could be weighted towards one way or the other, so you have sample bias. The only thing that can be concluded is the results reflect how that particular group feels, to balance you would also poll those who don't use Faceache, those not online and of different age groups etc to reduce sample bias as much as possible.

The options have a response of "frustrated" but doesn't define that frustration. The cause of the frustration could be different from person to person, maybe towards the board as a whole or towards part of it.

There could also be bias in the question as its double barrelled. In effect two questions are being asked.... How do we feel about the direction of the railway.... And... What do we think of the current board of trustees.

Just something I learnt in one of the seminars on marketing and market research at the Museums & Heritage show.

Is Alexandra Rd right on the trackbed? I thought it was immediately beside it.

All very relevant to claiming scientific credibility. But as a rough sense of mood, a distraction - despite those flaws, it can send a clear signal.

I suspect that all parties could agree to that, even the present trustees.

I'm possibly more worried by the buildings 1/4 mile away around St George's Road & Raleigh Meadow.

If you look at Google maps with EA's layer on, flip to Satellite, you can see the back fences of the houses in Yeo Vale Road, then a gap to Alexandra Road, that is as far as I understand the old trackbed.

If you stand in Pilton Yard carpark you can sight right down that bit.
