LE movements, ECS and test runs 2024

Black 5 No. 45212 heads the ECS across Docker Bridge heading for Fort William with Steve Chipperfield driving and Andy Simpson firing (Diesel removed in PS)

 

45212 being dragged by 47245 in atrocious conditions at Shap Wells shortly after the other two charters.

 

Sorry to hear 45212's brakes were locked on...

 

Regarding 35028's test runs, I think RH has one of them as just '28 and a diesel, while the other (on 22 April) is with coaches? Can anyone confirm, please? OK - a simple question met with a very brusque response... RH doesn't have a perfect record on information here, so I was simply asking what people knew. So sorry to have bothered you.

Shows how things can easily be interpreted differently in written form. I read it as if there was a tiny bit of sarcasm in the comment about journalistic integrity and due diligence or lack thereof.

Edit - that may reflect just my own beliefs in such things.

 

For those going out to photograph the test runs of Friday and Monday to clarify what’s happening, the late night run on Friday is the light test run with just the support coach. Monday is the load test with the Pullmans. The fact they are taking place is down to a Herculean effort and long hours by the staff at Leaky’s and the working members, many of whom made several trips to Leaky’s in Devon at not inconsiderable expense to themselves. The Society has had a considerable amount of unscheduled expenditure on this overhaul and although the bank account may not be critically anorexic I would ask anyone who is out to enjoy the spectacle of its return to consider a donation no matter how small. Monday’s trip should be with route discs only, no headboard.

 

Many thanks for this post - very kind (and very well done to the people behind the scenes). I know it's a test run, but I wonder if it had been considered to sell tickets on it, at passengers' risk for breakdown (although with a diesel along as insurance the risk of stranding is low). Perhaps Belmond were not willing to entertain that.

 

There has just been a test run (from Paddington to Birmingham) with passengers aboard but that was with very different rolling stock from the Belmond Pullmans.

The Wizzo has also done a couple of other mainline test runs, unloaded and loaded, plus a lot of running along the SVR.

 

That suggests that WCR think they have some stock they can use.... unless they have gained some additional pipework and pumps over winter maintenance?

 

i thought 47802 was with the GBXVI tour?, it was yesterday when heading for Glasgow
