I understand that the other BBMF aircraft have been grounded whilst investigations into the cause are ongoing, Will this ground all other flying spitfires in the UK, or is the grounding being done as a mark of respect to Squadron Leader Long, Who I understand was due to become officer commanding BBMF next year,

Of course, I wish to pay my respects to the pilot, his family, co-workers at the BBMF, In this dreadful time, and wish them well.

Perhaps a little early to be discussing the future of the Spitfire?

As a sign of respect an aviation forum I'm on has been suspended temporarily and have stated that there will be no discussions speculative or otherwise of this tragic event while the crash investigations are ongoing when the forum returns. Anyone so doing will be immediately removed from the group, that also applies to anyone posting photos or links to videos of the incident.
May I politely request that NP members don't discuss this further please?

A question. Is that the policy of that forum for all crashes?

I belong to another rail forum that is very tightly moderated in certain areas, speculation on incidents being one such. Others, including NP, have a softer policy.

I personally find "no one say anything" as disrespectful as the speculation about airframes; I have noticed some respectful posts on this and the other thread, which largely sum up my views.

I don't know if it's the policy or not, as I've not been on the forum that long and don't recall any other crashes in that time.

An interesting viewpoint as the first thing we all did at BA when we heard about a commercial aviation accident was to go on Aviation Safety Network to get the details. Although there is no discussion part of that website, so maybe that makes it different, although it does provide hyperlinks to other sites where there may be.

Standard procedure for BBMF in the event of any incident involving an aircraft. They've grounded the fleet before when they've suspected an engine issue and investigated it, so it's nothing new.

Not sure which forum the OP is on but one I'm on does not allow discussion of crashes pre investigation reports. On the other hand there's another where discussion and speculation is rife from the word go.

Disgraceful..the pilot's family, friends and colleagues, surely should be in our minds foremost. You can't repair a deceased person..

Of course the deceased person, their family and colleagues, are uppermost in everyone's thoughts, I'M not that callous, or uncaring, as you would like to make me out to be, prehaps i should have made it clearer,
