The first guest loco has arrived for the WW1 event, interesting contrast between the Baldwin and Henschel.

British reinforcements arrived at Stonehenge Works on Sunday, in the shape of LR2478, a 20hp Petrol Simplex Tractor. This Simplex Motor Rail 1757 of 1918, is from a private site near Reading.

Looking forward to this event. Can't get there until the final day but it will be worth the wait.

Are you able to confirm yet whether the two steam visitors will be working passenger trains this coming Sunday?

I Understand that they will be on passenger some time on Sunday as well as on Demonstration freight for the Henschel, for the rest of the day.
But this is only my understanding of the "plan" and subject to change as with all events.

They have now all pasted all tested and are released for traffic. =D>
If you want to see all three loco's in steam you need to visit on Sunday or Monday.
    Hope this helps

Both visiting steam locomotives have passed their line tests and have been in use today, as the two photographes below show.

The current operating plan, which like all such plans, including one by a German called Schlieffen, is subject to change without notice, is as follows:-

    Saturday 23/05/2009 - Passenger Train: P.C.Allen + No.5 (Fench Decauville); Demo Freight: 1091 (Brigadelok)
    Sunday 24/05/2009 - 1st Passenger Train: 778 (Baldwin); 2nd Passenger Train: P.C.Allen + No.5
    Monday 25/05/2009 - 1st Passenger Train: 779; 2nd Passenger Train: P.C.Allen + No.5
Tuesday 26/05/2009 - Passenger Train: Doll + 1091; No.5 departs Leighton Buzzard and returns to France.
    Wednesday 27/05/3009 - Passenger Train: 778; Demo Freight: 1091
    Thursday 28/05/2009 - Passenger Train: Doll + 1091
    Friday 29/05/3009 - Passenger Train: 778; Demo Freight: 1091
    Saturday 30/05/2009 - Passenger Train: Doll + 1091
    Sunday 31/05/2009 - 1st Passenger Train: 778; 2nd Passenger Train: Doll + 1091

I have also been told that it is also hoped to replace No.5 with 1091 on at least one train on Sunday and Monday (as was done today).

It should be noted that as neither visitor is fitted with our type of two pipe air brakes, both can only run on passenger trains, double heading with one our of our locomotives. They can however run demo unfitted freight trains on their own.

I got a couple of hours yesterday morning as my first visit to this line . Very enjoyable even if staff seemed a little harassed by the ITV film crew as well as lots of photographers . Great to see the Decauville as well as the Henschel on the freight . Sadly no pics as I only tooke the medium format camera

    Many thanks to everyone involved
