First ever visit of a Class 122 Unit
to the Llangollen Railway

First appearance of Llangollen’s
Class 104 Unit in early BR Blue (M50454 and M50528)
(this unit has been BR green since last full repaint in 1996 prior to which it was late pattern blue with full yellow ends)

Last Gala appearance of Llangollen’s
Class 105 Unit before withdrawal for rebuild
(M56456)
This unit has been preserved at Llangollen since 1984 and now requires an extensive body overhaul. (It will be withdrawn at end of season). It is the only class 105 vehicle in operation.

Class 104/105/108/109/122/127

Rock n Roll theme with live band
playing on Llangollen Station

Various formations from 2-Car to 5-Car
changing throughout each day

Compare a D.M.U. with what they replaced -
G.W.R. Auto-trailer (with Pannier tank 6430) running three services each day
(at 1100/1300 and 1500 from Llangollen)

The class 122 from East Lancs is looking good and the Class 104 is currently being repainted at Llangollen.

All the advertised attractions should happen as promised and we are also adding a children's fact sheet and quiz to the proceedings should any parents want to bring their offspring and keep them occupied!

And no... no disco.....just the rockers on the platform!

 

As a sneak preview to next weekend's Llangollen Railcar Gala we have added some pictures of the class 104 in its new colours to the Gala page of our website.

East Lancs have also confirmed class 122 bubble car 55001 is ready and it is expected to be moved on Wednesday.

I paid a visit to the DMU gala today and here are the pictures:

Although I didn't go to the Railcar Gala on the Saturday I did go for a ride on the Wickham Railcar on Friday 15th May from Llangollen to Carrog. Here I've done a photographic ride from Llangollen to Carrog from the Railcar on http://alunsphotos.fotopic.net/ . I hope you enjoy these pics showing a different vantage point of the railway. I really enjoyed the ride on the Wickham Railcar. Apolagies if I'm slightly off topic. I could see that one section of the Railcar is for First Class ticket holders at an extra £1.00 from the normal fare.
