Of course not. Belmond has a generator car that I believe they had serviced specifically so that the train didn't have to take a diesel for the on-board services.

There is a certain irony in the fact that a high end dining service - arguably with none better - chooses to have its occasional steam trips hauled properly.

    Name another that does this.

And it did snow in Uderns in the Ziller Valley while we were there in August 1996. The lady who ran our hotel called it a ‘fast winter’ . Not that unusual apparently

A nice video at a good location, made by the going away shot into Sevenoaks Tunnel.

It's a location I 'checked out' on Google street view on Wednesday to see if there is a reasonable going away still photograph with the tunnel in view and Clan Line not too far past the bridge. It will have to be from the down line side of the bridge so I can get as side on as possible with 35028 whilst still showing the tunnel entrance - it may be that the tunnel is too far from the bridge to get a reasonably balanced phot0. And it will need to be on a cloudy day - cue a hot and cloudless summer from now owards!

I'll try and remember to go home that way next time I photograph either 35028 or 70000 in the general area, to check it out at the real location, rather than on Google. But your nice video has certainly helped me, so many thanks for that.

That was hail, formed in a different way to snow. A very famous storm that left up to two feet of hail on the ground.

Didn't know this was running (not even mentioned on RH) but too hot to bother with steam (especially the famously clean-exhausting '28).

Been puzzling me too that only one of 35028's dozen or so scheduled trips is on RH.

But all those you named would have been on the footplate when 35028 passed me at Tonbridge. Thanks for that.

Clan Line at the head of the British Pullman making fairly brisk progress through Paddock Wood this afternoon. A very dull day with the threat of some (much needed) light rain that still hasn't arrived.

There must be a fire risk in Kent at present, which is presumably why a diesel is tucked in behind 35028. Which I believe is normal for DBC in such as fire risk situations when a diesel push up the hills should hopefully keep the lineside clear of any issues.

Faintly disappointing day, clearly fire risk at work.

Is today's BBP Kent run with steam?
