    No I do not currently volunteer
    The website suggests that the BLR is still continuing the fixed time, pre-book only model that most other railways have now abandoned.

    Is there going to be a Day Rover option for the Gala or will it still be necessary to book onto every train separately?

    Just returned from an excellent day out at Bala. :) Highly recommended.

    PS. Yes, Bala still operating the fixed time pre-booked model for ticket purchase, however the Guards do apparently have discretion to allow travel on alternative trains when there is spare capacity.
    Alternatively you could purchase a 'rover' ticket for £28 (normal price £15 for one return trip).
