I see it lost 5 minutes from leaving Carnforth to Tebay. I'm surprised at that, unless it was catching up with the Engineers train which was about 20 mins in front of it at Carnforth
    Looked and sounded well

12 mk2's (apparently mainly ex Fife Circle stock so one assumes CDL fitted) pretty shabby externally but who knows what internals are like Burton to Carnforth this afternoon (with 40145 DIT) component recovery or further Mk2's for WCR to refurb/use going forward?

    Not my video

Yes the Fife Ones were CDL fitted. Used behind the 68s.

I’d be willing to bet they will appear on WCR Maroon in 2025

Interesting to note this in yesterdays stock move from Burton to Carnforth. An Air/Con MK2, but with 4 of the windows replaced with smaller main panels, and sliding windows at the top. An attempt by WCR to overcome any Aircon issues?

They've done a few vehicles, but none have been in service yet. More to allow loco noise in but the extra ventilation will be handy.

Interesting. I wonder if this suggests WCR have now ceased efforts with the MK1s.

As it is wearing Polar Express (PE) branding it suggests that much of this rake may also be destined to be refurbished for this Christmas's two main line Polar offerings. The use of a Riviera Mk 2 set in Edinburgh last year seems to have worked well. This year there is to be a similar train out of Euston as well hence the need for another rake of similar stock. At least, that is my take on the situation, but I could be wrong.

Makes sense, and as you say with an additional operation out of Euston this year, much required.

If they are they should also be getting to grips with fitting air pumps and control gear to their locomotive fleet.

Who knows, on passing Carnforth last week some of the MK1's had been shunted back up into the main yard (they had been down at the southern end for a few months) which suggests there is some plan for them moving them back into the more operational part of te site, plus possibly more noteworthy 44932 was visible in the running shed area, has only ever been Tangmere visible in that area every time I have passed this year.
