That is probably due to the emergency engineering works for the latest earth slip at Honiton Tunnel.

That doesn't give hope for the RTC ACE due to run the same day. I can see that following suit.

Postponed to 12 October, rather than cancelled.

The ECS for today's tour to Chichester is 40 late from Southall, can only assume there is some disruption on the GWML as there are a lot of late trains at Paddington.

Action from today's Chichester excursions with a fine performance from the Brit, captured at Hedge End, Chichester, Christ's Hospital, Bosham and Fareham Tunnel:

Some nice clips there. Interesting to also see the 'new world order' of 10 coaches at work in those parts of the South where 12 cars is the train length maximum.

If this has to become the shape of things to come then an early pricing realignment might be a good thing to see across the board so we can all get used to it, or not. :)

If you're going into Littlehampton it's a maximum of 12 vehicles anyway, so that's always going to restrict the train length. There's a photo of 61306 there last year and the front wheels are only a few feet away from the sand trap, so it's very tight.

And Waterloo, apart from P19, is a 12 car terminus as are many others down south. So whilst we know that sometimes steam charters have to take a diesel for reversals, even if that's not necessary then, as I said, the new world order means that the rolling stock has to be no longer than 10 cars. Take away the POB and maybe a kitchen car and you don't have all that many revenue earning coaches left so we really shouldn't be surprised if the ticket price, even for Standard, goes well into three figures.

    A sign of the times.

Very nice - I couldn't get to see it owing to family commitments. I was surprised to see 70000 being towed at what looked like well over 45mph, which I had thought was the limit for steam towed tender-first.

It is only 45 when the tender is leading. It is up to 60mph when the steam is on the rear of the train (subject to line speed/loco max speed not being below 60)

Not a criticism as it's sometimes necessary but there is a view that towing a loco when attached to the back of a train is, shall we say, less than optimal?

My "record" if that is the right word is 89.75 miles from Exeter St. Davids to Laverstock Junction.

Steam Dreams/Locomotive Services "The Welsh Dragon" has somehow remained totally under the radar. Here are the times:

Day 1 Sunday 15th September 1Z 70 Paddington 09:12 to Llandudno via L. Spa and Nuneaton. 46100 "Royal Scot" PAD to Crewe.

Day 4 Wednesday 18th September 1Z 98 Holyhead 09:10 to Cardiff via Heart of Wales Line. 60007 "Sir Nigel Gresley" Holyhead to Crewe.

Day 5 Thursday 19th September 1Z 46 Cardiff to Paddington via Gloucester. 34046 "Braunton" throughout.

This trip was advertised for Day 1 to be steam hauled to Shrewsbury and then use the Cambrian Coast Line and terminate at Pwlhelli but this week it seems that Network Rail vetoed that route. The tour now goes to Llandudno, reverses and goes up to Blaenau Ffestiniog. Passengers will be bussed to various hotels in Snowdonia and Anglesey whilst the train returns to Crewe.

Suspect day 1 might end up being 70000 as 46100 is at Crewe I believe

No paths found down the Cambrian, hence the re-routing of day 1.

Yes but there is a path for the ECS from Crewe to Southall tomorrow that includes 2 water stops so I suspect 46100 is coming down.
