Some years (10+?) ago there was a discussion on here about fireless locos at preserved lines.
I mentioned how the NNR had been given one in 1979/80ish and it was put to use as a static roadside advert.

I was at Sherringham today; no sign of it and none of the staff on duty knew of this loco.
Anyone know please what happened to it and any other preserved fireless locos?

OT I know, but I saw one working at a Mondi paper mill in Austria about 20 years ago. It was one of the Meiningen batch from the early 80's. Could never understand why paper mills, oil refineries and other such plants with large boiler houses went for diesel instead of free energy.

There was also a fireless loco at Bressingham. The last time I saw it the eccentric rods were bent as no doubt it had been dragged along seized. It was later dumped up the end of the mainline running track as a buffer stop but I believe has since left the site along with Crane loco Millfield.
