Almost coaches=loco's. Unless you have pre-booked tickets and accommodation reckon a large number of people will give this gala a miss.

If you were not someone who read this thread on here would you even think about it?
Had I have been planning to attend I would not have thought about ringing up to check on stock lengths or if I needed to pre book.
From a quick glance just now at the event page on the website I do not think I would be any the wiser even after that either.

What sort of a stupid reply is that? I'm very skeptical about this gala, but it's all booked.

2253 was a cracking loco the last time I was on it when it was last on the Moors. I can't speak for its current condition but you seem to know that there are problems. Care to tell?

What is stupid about it? Seems a reasonable assessment given the situation.

There isn't enough coaches due to incident, something unsurprisingly not forseen in gala
planning in a year where the railway is already down a rake and as we've seen,
efforts have been made to bolster the limited fleet with the additions from the SRPS,
even then a challange due to loco failure and so requiring the short notice use of the HST powercars.

Did think the Pullmans would be used, like after the incident involving the 20 back in 2022 was it? To alleviate the almost guaranteed crush loadings.

I think lack of coaches is the impact of the 9F hitting a rake of coaches at the carriage shed and therefore the withdrawn from traffic

The 9F didn't 'hit' a rake of coaches, it was already coupled to and moving a set of coaches. I have been told that the driver of the loco was not at fault.

For clarity the 9F did not hit anything. It was the train that it was shunting that collided with another set of stock. The loco was innocent and undamaged.

The A set is 6 carriages, it seems that W1 set is 5 carriages

There are currently two 6 carriage sets and one 5 carriage sets operating the steam gala. The W1 set will start Friday (and thus probably the rest of the weekend) as 6 carriages.

Yesterday was extremely enjoyable, even though I had to ask my guest house to put my jeans in the tumble dryer. I was only travelling on the trains! Pitchford, Eddystone, and 92134 were all excellent!

Rather nice to see the "Lickey 9F" on the webcam at the moment.
