NYMR Civils fleet

Another update on Drewry 16 that has moved this year to the DVLR at Murton near York for restoration.

Some of the photos are before and after showing the amount of Cab pipework and fittings that have been removed.
This is so that the cab can be removed to fabricate a new one. The existing cab is too corroded to be reused.

Does anybody have any photos of its earlier life at BP Saltend up to 1984
or any of the other refineries or even in military service.

 

Nearly a year since the last update.
In some cases no change and others have made significant progress.
Just to remind everybody this is about the working wagons and equipment on the NYMR and not the demonstration goods train, although they do pinch some of our wagons occasionally. These vehicles are those used to enable maintenance and renewal works on the NYMR and as such are classed as "Working Wagons"

The biggest single change that has happened is the appointment of a permanent staff fitter to the PW Staff.Chris has already made great changes to the fleet with more to come.

We are usually present at Newbridge yard on Tuesdays and Thursdays and would welcome any potential volunteers.

That is an impressive fleet of PW wagons! A full time fitter will be very useful.

 

The arrival of Chris as a staff fitter has transformed the amount of work carried out.
Currently the priority is to catch up on maintenance and certification.

 

A bit more detail on recent work.
Drewry 16 now moved to the DVLR at Murton York. New cab fabricated and in the process of being fitted.
Ballast Regulator GR5044 minor repairs and a repaint.
Plain Line Tamper 73250 minor repairs and installing new LED lights.
12T Plasser 81516crane minor repairs.
40T Weltrol 230908 nearly complete just waiting for a handbrake shaft to be machined and installed.
Borail 946060 complete.
Plate 93219 nearly complete. Repaint, overhaul and refloor including door hinge angle irons renewed.

Drewry 16 now moved to the DVLR at Murton York. Overhaul completed and repainted, now awaiting an exhauster before becoming available for traffic.
Ballast Regulator GR5044 Hydraulic hose replacement.
Plain Line Tamper 73250 All ok.
12T Plasser 81516 crane all ok.
40T Weltrol 230908 complete, back in use. been carrying a drilling rig for ground investigation work beneath the trackbed.
Plate 93219 complete.
SHARK 993894. TIMBER REPAIRS, Cab body lifted off the underframe, full retimber to start.
Underframe to clean up and repaint, Headstocks to derust, Ballast and other spoil to remove from behind the ploughs.
