Two less, I’ve already stopped mine and transferred to a more worthy cause.

I think Tornado is a worthy cause but it seems that 'head office' couldn't organise a social event in a brewery. I'll say it again, David Elliot will be turning in his grave. It's a sad state of affairs for such a magnificent machine.

Are you or anyone else on here attending the convention this year? It would be ‘interesting’ if during the Q&A’s at the end of the morning a Covenantor were to stand up and request a vote of confidence in the Trustees / Board of Management.

I'm glad that I put my money into a different project, vis, 32424 "Beachy Head", (rather than "Tornado"), which from all accounts appears to be performing well.

I assume that in the Memorandum and Articles of the A1 Steam Trust there are rules for voting rights of a show of hands General Meetings and postal ballots.
I doubt that one member could sack the directors (trustees) simply by standing up at a Convention (which is probably not a General Meeting), and calling a confidence vote.

I hope members have access to Mem&Arts of A1ST. They may even be available for all to see on the Companies House website.
Then they can work out how they can best make an effective representation to the Board.

Have just checked the Trusts website and the last news on there is dated 9th Sept.

Copied this from the bottom of the page : " The current plan is for Tornado to move to Tyseley after more high speed running next week. We have agreed with Network Rail to undertake test runs in late September/early October and, with no further issues, we plan to undertake those operations before moving to the Nene Valley Railway in October."

Given that was almost a month ago the loco should now be at Tyseley according to that.

It is now only 10 days before the first advertised firing turn should take place at NVR and Tornado is still in the shed at Loughborough and as far as is known doesn't appear to have done anymore running in since the firebar had to be replaced.

Does anybody seriously think that between now and 16th October it will move to Tyseley and do some main line test runs before it is due at the NVR? I have my doubts. Perhaps more likely to go straight to NVR as promised and run in there.

However it is not just Tornado. There has been no more news regarding the boiler for the P2 which is due to arrive sometime soon. Most news now seems to be more about the DLW, tracklaying and guided tours. A lot of searching questions need to be asked at the Convention, unfortunately not by me as I am not attending. Whether they get answered truthfully if at all, who knows.

It's a charitable Trust and there are no Memorandum and Articles.

I wasn’t inferring that such a vote would be in anyway binding, rather that it would deliver a message of deep dissatisfaction from those who fund the ever increasing ineptitude of those in power. Though as @The Green Howards has pointed out, the chances of the achieving a sizeable majority would be very slim, given the reaction of the room to my pointed questioning in years past.

There are no members as such just supporters. The Trustees are effectively untouchable I think

That's a well and truly broken link... and as has been mentioned upthread, most of the appeals are for ballast at the moment.

I've noticed an inconsistency with the NVR calendar: under the "experiences" section it gives dates for the Tornado driving experiences as 17, 18 and 21 October: but the main calendar only shows the 25th of October as an "experience" with the first service train on the 19th.

    I'm confused.

I think there are a couple of experiences back on sale for the 25th, so they're back in the calendar as available to be booked. Whereas the other dates are sold out.

It's worth a try. Little chance of success I agree but it would blow a nasty wind up a few kilts.
