Sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread, but I was wondering if anyone knew where coach 99716 (Second Corridor 18808/25808) is currently? Vintage Carriages Trust has it listed as being owned by West Coast Railways in 2006, but it was not seen or photographed by anyone at the Carnforth open day last year, unlike the three other "in service" SKs, 99710, 99718 and 99721. It is one that was used in the Harry Potter films with the Hogwarts crest on the side. Was it at Carnforth but not spotted by anyone, is it at Fort William or is it at the NYMR? Or is it somewhere completely different/has it been scrapped.

If anyone could help, that would be great.
    Thanks a lot.

I think it's at Southall at the moment. There's several Hogwart coaches there.

99716 moved Southall - Eastleigh today behind 37706 with 99710 and 99721 - I presume 99718 is also at Southall, as is 80204, the support coach used for filming.

Sorry to dig up an 18 month old thread, but 99716 was spotted today being loaded or unloaded on a lorry at Carnforth - painted up in GNER-style livery.

Perhaps something to do with the final bits of pick-up filming conducted for Harry Potter 7 (Part 2)... the Hogwarts Express will certainly be featuring at the end of the film, and this scene was filmed last summer in Kings Cross with 5972, some of the Mk. 1s in Hogwarts livery (which 99716 formerly was) and the Virgin Pretendolino set, top 'n' tailed by Class 67s as a barrier and staff/crew accommodation while on set.

I believe some clarification is required regarding number 99716 as it is carried by two completely different carriages.

The real 99716, formerly BR Mark 1 SK 18808 (originally 25808) carries WCRCo Maroon livery and is currently stored at Southall.

Mark 2 FO 3416 which is believed to still be owned by Vintage Trains was painted on at least one side in a fake GNER livery and given fake number 99716 for filming purposes only. This is now stored at Carnforth and has not been used since the filming took place.

I am sure some Harry Potter expert can confirm but I beliveve the painting and numbering of 3416 is related to boarding the Hogwarts Express at Kings Cross formed of modern stock which magically transforms itself into Mark 1s by the time it reaches Scotland. For continuity purposes the number 99716 appears on what is purported to be the same carriage in two scenes.
