There is a very good video from "Green Signals" about the LSL operation. They are installing ECTS into the Deltic "Royal Scots Greys" and it highlights how difficult it is proving, they do reference Tornado - where the problems are even greater.....(I'm sure somebody can post a link but it is also on the "6024 King Edward 1" thread on here ).

Reported on FaceAche that a low loader is booked on the 14th to take Tornado to the NVR, so hopefully whatever was stopping the job has now been rectified.

New regulator being fitted according to another comment on Facebook. I understand there are other problems that occurred during the testing, but no idea whether they've been rectified yet.

I'd be concerned putting a fresh out of the box engine on driver experience, particularly when it's clear the loco has had issues in the last month to be rectified...

Once she arrives at NVR, might it make sense to delay any mainline plans until after Christmas, and arrange for the various tests then, she could earn money and repay the trust in the NVR by running there, to boost their Santa and other events, then move to a mainline TOC's base in January, all the tests could be ran then, so that Tornado is then ready to be used from the start of the season in March it would ensure she does get properly sorted out rather than rushed into use.

Let's get it out of Quorn and delivered to NVR first before starting to plan another diary, there have been too many 'stumbling blocks' along a difficult road. One step at a time eh ?

Maybe watch this, and get to 33:47, and see what is involved in fitting ERTMS, to a diesel, never mind in a steam based environment. and have a reminder, they are acting as a pathfinder for steam.

In the end everyone will benefit, and after that everyone should all be thankful, if it helps keep steam on the mainline...

Every such thing always starts with 1, too many organisations (and I include in this charites/commercial companies etc) get away with shoddy service on the basis that they assume that people won't go as they think taking away their business will not make a difference.

Ok, I’m probably going to get flayed for posting this, but it’s in the public domain, and to me it gives a pointer as to what’s gone wrong with the direction and focus of the Trust.

    IMG_9917.jpeg
This barrack room laddish schoolboy ‘humour’ will be all too familiar to those of us who have attended Trust conventions in recent years - e,g. that tired old trope of making a mockery of H&S , references to ‘trolley dollies’ during descriptions of fire evacuation procedures etc etc.

But to publish similar stuff on ‘X’ (was Twitter), alongside your positions of office held, indicates to me a certain lack of awareness. For good measure, throw in your birthday date too, for any ID cloners out there.

I can imagine that apart anyone who might raise an eyebrow at the wisdom of publishing this bar room banter (which is where is should have stayed), there could well be supporters of the royal family who would take exception to the late Queen’s presence too.

Okay, the floor’s yours. Is this acceptable from a Charity Chair - imagine it was a more visible one, such as the RNLI or NT, imagine the fall out. You’re not in the army now.

With you 100%, @Sheff. The man's an embarrassment. He genuinely seems clueless re: the socials - didn't he spoil some group's livery reveal?

BTW - has it arrived at the NVR yet? I could have swung past Wansford on my way home tonight but I wanted an accurate use of fuel for a mileage claim and that wouldn't have been the shortest practical route from the land of ironstone, viz. Market Overton. I considered looking at Railcam, but was greeted with this message:

NVR ORTON MERE & WANSFORD - Widespread Internet outage. Expected fix 17/10/24
