Tornado's 09 Tour Programme

الموضوع في 'What's Going On' بواسطة Christopher125, بتاريخ ‏23 فبراير 2009.

The Severn Coast Expresses 30 May

Hired by Pathfinder Tours ( www.pathfindertours.co.uk ), Tornado will be in action pulling two special "Severn Coast Express" excursion trains.

The first train, diesel hauled, departs Bristol Temple Meads 0730 on the morning of Saturday 30 May picking up passengers at Bristol Parkway and Cam & Dursley.
At Gloucester Tornado replaces the diesel locomotive and takes the train to Cardiff via Chepstow and Newport. Following a two and half hour break, the train returns to Bristol Temple Meads via the Severn Tunnel. The second train, departing Gloucester at 3.45pm calling at Cam & Dursley and Bristol Parkway, is timed to leave Bristol Temple Meads at 5.05pm with Tornado in charge for a trip to Minehead via Taunton and the West Somerset Railway.

The WSR's "Tornado Fortnight" starts on 1 June...

I see the Tour Programme is still changing. For instance, she's now down for a visit to Tyseley on the 26th and 27th of June, a Tyseley-Bristol on July 3rd, the 'Towy Tornado' on July 25th, a Bristol-Plymouth on August 8th, a Bristol-London on August 13th, the 'Kinder Transport Train from London to Harwich on September 3rd, 'The Winton Train' on the 4th of September, an extra London-York for Steam Dreams on the 26th of September plus visit to the SVR between October 24th and November 7th. Meanwhile the Lickey Tornado seems to have dissapeared...

(I've updated the tour list on the first post of this thread to reflect these changes - apologies if there are any errors. For more info regarding the Harwich trains, see here, and its own website, here)

And that is besides not visiting anywhere in the North West (Carlisle excepted), Cheshire/Shropshire and North Wales. Not exactly a well oiled publicity machine afterall! Mind you being an LNER loco, it could not cope being in LMS/BR(M) territory!

As for the discussion about WCR not crewing the loco, it is simply the fact that as far as I am aware A1LST have currently contracted DBS (EWS) to provide the crews. Until the contract is completed or there has been a problem with DBS crewing the loco, then there will be no change.

It goes without saying but that applies to other WCR crew members too! Then again, given a choice what they can drive/fire now (LMS loco's such as 46115 etc) and 60163 - mmm I think they got the better deal! ;-)

Any ideas if this is just a positioning move i.e. loco and support coach as there is nothing on Past Time Rail's website about it yet

This looks like it is a positioning move from Tyseley to Bristol as it shows on the 60163 website.

Any ideas on Tornado's total mileage this year / total number of tours.

This engines got to be clocking up some good miles by now... there must be a race on between it and 70013 for the highest mileage in 2009.

It does as you say give PTR details so perhaps it is just a LE move after the next Tyseley Open Days so as to be ready for the TE on July 5th. No tours showing on UK Steam for the date of the move.

    Looking at her tour programme

15th August 2009 Hampshire and Sussex Circulars.

Is it safe to assume that the Sussex one will be the Mid Sussex line via Chichester or will it take in the Brighton Line as well.

Edit Looks like it will be out Hastings way as SD website says a Luncheon in Hampshire and a Dinner in Kent and Sussex.

The Kent & Sussex tour is routed via Redhill and Tonbridge then via the circluar route via Ashford and Hastings back to Tonbridge and onward via Redhill into London. Anyone know when the last steam went on the Hastings-Tonbridge route?
