LE movements, ECS and test runs 2024

I had planned to remain at Settle Jn to watch 45212 head back to 10A. However, the light was fading quickly so I upped sticks and headed for Giggleswick with its big, open sky and, if needed, station lights.

As the minutes ticked by the sky to the east grew darker and then a blob of white exhaust appeared at the end of the straight. Slowly, the loco grew larger, the click of wheels on rail joints grew louder then a whistle for the crossing. The loco trundled through the station and once clear of the platforms the regulator was opened and 45212 chuffed off up the hill, the sky brighter in this direction, the rail joints just as soporific - timeless. 12C & 2E. I had the station to myself - just how I like it.

Anyone heard when 45407 is due to head to Wensleydale?

 

Anyone able to shed some light on this rather unusual movement today? It was 44871 solo but have to wonder what the purpose was

5Z45 Carnforth Steamtown - Northallerton (Wensleydale Railway) in the system for tomorrow. Booked 0855 away from Carnforth station. Presume this is 45407 ahead of the Polar Express.

 

Railcam data has it as 45212.

6th November 2024 45212 Engine Move

45212 heads to Northallerton for Polar Express duty on the Wensleydale Railway.

Thanks to everyone that corrected my error of having it down as 45407.. I didnt take any notice of loco number as it passed and took it that info from last night saying it was 45407 was correct.

I went over to Woodlesford to see what was supposed to be 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier, but it turned out to be 45212 with

Strange times when an engine and coach looks better than an engine and a string of blue and white coffins!

 

After following 44871 around Kent yesterday at the head of such a train, I agree with you 100%! The "Coffin Express" will no doubt be the stock for the annual RTC "Sussex Belle" which will be passing not far from my home a week tomorrow. Even if the weather is obliging, I'm not sure I will bother to go and take a picture of it unless I can think of a location where everything bar the loco and support coach can be hidden or in shadow.
