the guy who use to be top man at Bowers started up by himself.
Bowers never got back to me when I first asked about them so was given his number instead.

Quick update.

Early last week I was informed that both the eth and aux gens were finished and ready for payment and collection.

If you can spare a few pennies this will be much appreciated.

Sadly due to time restraints they won’t be fitted this year, we will get together soon to discuss a date for a lift in the new year.

Yesterday Lion was moved out of its usual hiding spot to allow access for a working party to do some jobs on the Hampshire unit easily.

This gave me the opportunity to fill the loco with air for a good 6 hours.
Something I don’t get the chance to do that often.
No strange pops bangs or hisses from blown pipes came from it and it held air for a while once disconnected.

Plans are being made to collect the generators and to start putting the loco back together once the weather perks up a little.
Peoples busy lives being the main delay.

Over the weekend The A Team from The Class 50 Alliance visited the railway to bolt the main gen to the engine assemble the engine and then crane this and the etc / aux gens back into the loco.

Another effortless performance from them all.
They work like fluid and it’s a pleasure to deal with them.

@Duty Druid and I speculated this might be the case when we got the notice that Ropley Yard was off limits this weekend because of crane work! Well done another milestone completed!

In the video clip, you can see the loco drop down a few inches when the power unit hits the deck. I watched the buffers drop when it was coupled up to the Ivatt.

 

Hi, I was wondering what the progress was on 50027? Are you hoping to have it back for the MHR diesel gala in July?

 

We’re getting there slowly mate. I’ve just had to order nearly 8 grands worth of new batteries which has
a) put a large dent in the timescales of getting it serviceable due to delivery times
And
b) more cash spent.
I’d really liked to have hit the bodywork repairs and repaint once back in service and reliable but this will have to wait till we’ve saved up some more cash.
Hopefully the diesel gala it will be serviceable once tested into the ground. it’s been out of service 4 years now so I don’t expect it to work first time!
