    What a machine!

Seems the NVR is clearing out a lot of its 'foreign' kit with the kriegslok having gone. Is there an intentional shift to a more UK-orientated image?

I think you'll find this is at Railworld and that's nowt to do with the NVR. The Kriegslok wasn't an NVR owned loco AFAIK but the private property of an airline pilot.

A dear departed friend had a lot to do with getting her to Railworld, he'd turn in his grave if he knew she was no longer wanted.

Ah ok, got it - was confused by the websites.

Just noticed the rather delightful Y7 railbus - my young lady's home town over in Sweden has a preserved line that operates 3 of those and a trailer car. Cool looking things.

Of limited use due to its height unfortunately. Interesting bit of kit.

Can anyone advise on the current situation with the Alco S1's ex BSC Port Talbot please? IIRC 804 is at the NVR and 803 at Chinnor was scrapped a while ago. Is 804 a runner? Wasn't there one at the Aln Valley at one time?

There were no buyers for 804, so it was cut up on site at Railworld, though I believe the owner of 801 acquired a number of spare parts.

801 has seen some work on the cab over the last couple of years, but the owner is also involved with the Swedish Railcar (which is currently getting a new roof and repaint) and the recently acquired HST set, so has quite a lot on.

Ah, so that explains its current absence from traffic - I used to enjoy the "Winter Warmers" it did.

Thanks for the update, however sad 2 of the 3 initially saved have been scrapped.

Funnily enough and as an aside, I bought a book (pub. 1970) on industrial steam from a HRCA meeting last month for a quid :) Both Blue Circle and Sirapite are in it, in working condition.
