That is the old address. The new premises are somewhere in Bury.

Is it Baron Street in Bury? Just looked at the Bury planning portal.

Baron Street is the location of East Lancashire Railway’s Buckley Wells shed. Rileys originally occupied a part of this site but moved to Sefton Street, Heywood, in 2016 after ELR gave notice due to expansion of their own activities at Buckley Wells. The Heywood site was said to be a temporary solution until they found a more permanent home.

Riley’s main FB page shows lots of pictures of machinery being moved in to the new premises (it looks huge); and a recent post on their other ‘Heritage Painting’ FB page says “See you next year in our new works at Irlam Works, Bury.

Another post on the main page says “In addition to the machine / erecting shop shown here in these pics, we have a Fabrication shop, Boiler Shop, Paint shop and shot-blast shop”

More photos of the before and after of the works on Heritage Painting's Facebook page. As @Miff says, it looks huge - and that's just the main building! There are others on the site as well.

I'm pretty sure I've identified the site on Google Earth - if I'm right it is bigger than Buckley Wells (both shed and yard). As @ianh says, all the clues are there in the latest Heritage Painting post.

Yes think it is at Lower Woodhill Road, Bury. The site i think, was previously occupied by Veolia waste management. One of the refurbished buildings is easily identifiable in the photos.

That's where I'd figured out as well, though my comment about bigger than Buckley Wells was based on the whole site - on reflection and looking at both the Heritage Painting and Riley's Facebook posts, I now think it's only the 1/3 of the big building closest to the river

Huh, I'd circled on what is marked as the Fire Training Centre but that seems to still be in use. It would probably have less clobbering than what Veolia did to their site.

It's a good sign for Ian's business that he is able to expand in this way, whilst a railway connection is desirable, it's not essential if you have a convenient railhead nearby,
and I see there are overhead cranes to lift boilers and locos off their wheels etc, and with designated boiler shops, grit blasting , etc, it means a better organised work flow,

I happened to be passing the site referred to above on my way to my brother's earlier. It was all locked up but there was a wee sign attached to the gate.:)

I'm surprised that they haven't gone for rail connected facility (it may well be that there aren't any in the area that are available or suitable of course).

It looks like the Gentleman who has financially backed the overhaul of 34007 has also done similar for the new works given he is a person with significant control.

Perhaps they could take a leaf out of the A1SLT's book and enlist a load of squaddies to do the rail laying.
