Rocket, Sans Pareil, Novelty and Lion went mainline in 1980 at Rocket 150. Novelty was displayed on a Weltrol as it had a tendency to derail in the yard at Bold.

 

As did the 1975 vintage Locomotion in the Shildon Cavalcade that year.

 

Several examples of restored or mostly new vintage carriage bodies on non passenger stock underframes. The Middleton Railway also has three (soon to be four) completely new and unique design passenger bodies on ex SR PMV underframes.

New SG carriages pretty much has happened. In practical terms the NSR brake 3rd at Foxfield might as well have been a new build - there are some tokens bits of original timber, but it probably cost more to incorporate them than if they'd been ignored.

 

What chassis does it sit on? The other two Knotty coaches are on wagon chassis. AFAIK the only completely new coach chassis so far are the pair for the Oldbury bodies on the Isle of Wight.

Chassis for the NSR brake 3rd is a reused from a brake van.

There is a plan for a new chassis to be built for the existing NSR 1st class body to go on, as a conveniently sized wagon under frame hasn't been forthcoming.

This project impresses me, it hasn't been going all that long and it seems to be making good, steady progress. Also it has several pre existing components, and I think this one Is a cert to be completed and steaming

Averaging about 60-70k per year income.
Not sure on its estimated build cost, so could still be a good while yet as long as it keeps these numbers up, or hopefully gets them higher.

 

I’ve asked Trackside if they would consider updating their New Build review of a few years ago. Fingers crossed.

 

It's about time, since 6880 and 32424 are now in steam, and a poll could be included to show which engine has the chances of being the next to steam.

 

How would a poll work? The likelihood should be based on hard facts like progress and income surely?

 

Steam Railway have been doing this in the last 3 or 4 issues or so, following up on the ones they covered prior to COVID, including those fallen by the wayside. The latest issue has just covered the BR designed projects.
