Our wage bill is generally in the low teens as % of our turnover, you could argue at times we are bit lean on paid staff but we keep a tight control on this.

Its when you see railways with a wage bill of 50%+ of their turnover that you can understand why they are in such a dire financial position.

I don't think there would be much sense in paying for a new railway bridge just so they could build 89 houses on the triangle as this would have wiped out any profits from doing so. Given that they were planning to rip the line up back to Leekbrook Junction anyway it would have made less sense. The obvious problem with the houses was that the cut de sac leading up to the houses was going to be on the North curve where the new track has been laid. By the way there was never any such plan to run freight trains because no freight operating company was ever involved and there was no way of getting any such trains from Stoke to Leekbrook because that line was and still is out of use and not part of the lease. I am curious why the way gang spent so much time and volunteer effort to clear two miles of vegetation on a railway that was clapped out and they had no further use for.

My comments about building a new bridge and the role of freight on rail come from a conversation I had with one of the Directors of Moorlands and City Railway when MCR presented their plans in Leek.

I suppose it's possible that you would be better informed than him, but it seems unlikely to me, sorry about that.

All from Stoke, all know best despite none of them being present in CVR meetings. So much conjecture and ********, fan fiction is simply amusing at times.

Given the recent news about the only way to access the temporary platform at Leekbrook will be via the heritage tours for 2025 does that mean there will be no other development progress planned for the entire year?

To the best of my knowledge and belief the platform at leek will be extended and the track there lengthened and a run round loop installed this year.

The provision of station buildings, car park etc will be part of a later development.

Cheers, just wondering if some more trips to leek are required to keep up with developments!

Hopefully CVR keep the public involved/informed in more history making as they’ve had lots of great publicity following the track extension.

Well done, my experience of doing this sort of work is that the light getting to the ground increases the amount of wildflowers and insects.

More so on a south facing slope. It will be interesting to see what this north facing one produces
