Kitchen Cars tend to have heavier bogies to carry the extra weight of these vehicles. What is this new electronic heating system fitted to your mark one ?

Didn't BR replace the RU/RBR and some RMB coaches with the Commonwealth bogies (I beleive that's what they are, and what's on the RBR atm) during the 80s?

On my way home from Llangollen this afternoon I noted a Mark One TSO on a trailer in a lay-by on the southbound A483 ,just north of Wrexham.I presume that this is 4947 ,which we have bought from the Ribble Steam Railway.

I saw what looked like a Mk1 GUV heading west on the A30 at Jamaica Inn on the A30 last night. Anyone know where it was heading?

  9. I understand RES GUV no 94148 was moved from the WSR to Trevarno (Helston) recently?

Two Mark One TSO's have arrived at Llangollen from the Vale of Glamorgan. One will be restored to traffic & the other scrapped. I don't know the numbers of these as they're well painted over.
Also arrived is a GNR wagon , which will be used in the restoration of our cattle van body ,which is of LNER origin.

The GNR wagon came from the East Lancs & the only identification on it is an RNAD number. At the moment it is a flat deck with two raised ends, but I don't know what it started life as. I'll have a closer look tomorrow & if I find out any more info i'll let you know . The cattle wagon body, which is already on site, doesn't have any numbers remaining, so the finished article will probably will probably have a phoney number.

Cheers Bob. Hopefully this should be ex RNAD 79, ex Bedenham. Thats all I know about it though, as is the case with many ex RNAD wagons. A shame as there are a few rarities.
Apologies for going off topic but I'm visiting the Llangollen next Monday. Is it possible to view all the rolling stock on the line, or is some of it out of bounds to the public? I'm particularly interested in the wagons.
    Cheers
    Steve

Well I'm glad the cattle wagon project is moving forward as it is always nice to see a cattle wagon and it will go nicely with the cattle dock at Carrog.

    Come on now.
Its a little unfair to criticize our premier railway museum on one photo.
Look at recent images of the excellent condition of the Class 502 unit

    http://www.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se ... sp?Ref=735

and the former GWR Composite Restaurant Car,

    http://www.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se ... sp?Ref=257

and also the ( now scrapped) Head-Wrightson built Nuclear Flask wagon, all once part of our supposed National Collection, our heritage that has been allowed to rot by these supposed pillars of preservation.

As far as I know (and the latest GCR newsletter implies) both are staying at the GCR. Was 999503 ever at the SVR? I understood it had come straight from refurbishment at Derby.
